Tortola, Virgin Islands – April 14, 2010 – Spoken word artists from all walks of life will grace the stage alongside Jamaican dub poet, Mutabaruka, at UP’s Cineplex at the second annual “Microphone Messenjahs” on Sunday, April 18 at 6pm sharp.

The featured poet, Mutabaruka, has performed all over the globe, in the Caribbean, USA and UK; and has even appeared on the popular HBO programme, “Def Poetry Jam.” Mutabaruka has been described by critics as an “unshackled,” brilliant and gifted word auteur.

Other performers are men and women from the VI Callaloo Poets on Tortola, the Rock Collective from St.Thomas, and other members of the Virgin Islands community, who will entertain with poetry, song, dance and drumming.

The entrance fee is $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for students with ID. Tickets can be purchased at the Mellow Moods Café.

Microphone Messenjahs is hosted by non-profit organisations – the Afrikan Studies Klub, the VI Callaloo Poets and the Rock Collective.
