Communication and Works Minister Julian Fraser has confirmed the arrival of the parts ordered to fix the damaged VFD electrical system needed to run the two high-powered pumps at Baugher’s Bay water plant that supplies water to Road Town.
“The parts are here. They arrived yesterday,” Fraser said in an invited comment.
It is unclear what the operational status is of the Baughers Bay water plant.
Fraser had said in a press conference earlier this week that the plant’s power system was severely damaged by two separate power surges, solely the fault of the BVI Electricity Corporation.
The power strikes occurred on December 31 and January 7, both resulting in voltage fluctuations that caused “critical damage” to the equipment required to operate the pumps, which are capable of supplying up to 500,000 gallons of water to the city daily.
When exactly the plant will be operating at its full capacity is unclear, but Minister Fraser had indicated that a technician from the parts manufacturer would accompany the parts here to ensure its smooth instillation and subsequent operation.

All system must be running soon, we just hope they will have a system to prevent this things to happen again , water is necessity and that is the main point. Let’s give Mr. Fraizer a chance this time and we hope that water will stay for good . 500 k gallons of water is enough maybe for Road Town and other district , also maybe now we know the importance of water and learn to save it .
when the water comes let’s celebrate and make a toast …..whoooohh..cant wait…
