APRIL 25—The territory’s Sr. Women’s 4x100m Relay team will get its biggest test at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, when they face the starters gun in the USA vs the World in the prestigious Penn Relays. The meet will be televised live on NBC.
Team BVI—comprised of Tahesia Harrigan Scott, Ashley Kelly, Chantel Malone and Karene King—will compete against the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago along with USA Red and USA Blue.
The team will be seeking to build a mark towards qualifying for the Olympic Games in London in August, and also lay the foundation for seeking a berth in the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Moscow.
The BVI’s National Record is 44.34 seconds, ran by the foursome in 2010.
The team arrives in Pennsylvania today to begin preparing for Saturday’s competition.

Tortola people are so shallow minded and hateful. Back up off Wattley. Why Mr or Miss WELL can’t take her tail up and go run an event and then win a gold medal. Just shut the hell up! sicknin
To Cess– People like you belong in a “cesspool” with your mentality. They will do just fine.
I wonder how many negative commentators can do better than the lsdies competing? If you can’t then you need to support them even if you think they will be last. There’s always a first and last in everything we do. GO BVI -DO YOUR VERY BEST
Lets Go BVI Team got ur back 100% People needs to realize dat we need to build up ur team and stop the negative and let us all be as one and bill up our girl to do there best well as for me i am 100% with the BVI ALL GIRls RELAY TEAM . LEt GO !!!!!!!!!!!
A combination of practise, good health, confidence, dedication and good coaching will make this team a force to reckon with in years to come.
Wattley will be at the Penn Relays running for her college (Morgan State University).
All the best Team BVI.
in ur dream, tie a rope around your neck and jump off up’s building
you go first then ill think about it and decide depending on you look on the ground
What’s up with you people? These are young women who are doing positive things and making themselves, their families, and their territory proud. If you can’t offer an encouraging word, go blog on a US or Jamaica site. I’m not a native Virgin Islander, and I’ve lived in both the US and Jamaica and have the utmost respect for the people of both countries. I have no axe to grind, but enough is enough!
Ladies, do your best — there are more of us for you than against you!
It’s the spirit of competition, everyone has a right to back their team. It shouldn’t make team VI feel bad they should use it as motivation to shut them up
I’m not saying don’t back your team – what I’m saying is that you don’t have to try to pull down someone else in doing so.
Go, get em, Girls. You guys give it your best shot, push as hard as you can. We are praying hard for you and know that you will be the best that you can be. Kudos.
The USA team is running it at 42.64, Jamaica team is running it at 42.74. So team VI (not bvi) have to shave 2 seconds off to get the win… leave it all on the track ladies. Good luck
#teamVI
The BVI will not run faster than 44… maybe 43.9 for a miracle… best they have include wattley and huggins in it
Huggins yes, Wattley no! Wattley is not up to par in running at the world level in a relay team.
well….What you know about wattley???? her time will come!! and for your information this is here third Penn Relays!! and she also have a GOLD medal for the 4×200 for Morgan State university in last year’s event.
rightnow wattley has run a faster time than mrs.harrigan scot for the season…so what you talking about…buh watlley no? all three girls on that team beating mrs.harrigan scott
When Ms. Wattley wins a world medal like Harrigan-Scott then she would be in her league and comparable…until then not!
well… your are shallow brain numscull!! Mrs wattley is only 19 years for your information, huggins is only 15 why you don’t find your size to pick on and stop hating on the young ladies!!!
Lol! I guess when you cannot dispute facts you turn to personal attacks….touched a spot! Usain Bolt and Veronica Campbell-Brown were winning world medals at 17 and 19 years old….down with the excuses! No one is hating on anybody and you do not compare apples to oranges. Why mention Ms. Huggins? She is a formidable athlete in her own right (CUT gold medalist and Carifta Silver/bronze medalist).
Well you sound like a proper fool
@mymy, wow etc. ….smh.
Go BVI whip Jamaica
whip jamaica NOT
guaranteed last place
Tired of people coming on the news sites and leaving stupid negative comments, check the girls stats!!! then speak after!!
Go, BVI!
