An urgent call has been made for upgrades to be made to the structure that presently houses the Adina Donovan Home, as it was stated that the staff presently face life threatening situations and injuries operating in the facility.
In the 2011 Annual report, which was tabled in the House of Assembly, it was recommended that: “Serious consideration be geared towards major upgrades to the structure of the facility…. Residents and staff are placed in very life threatening situations which can result in possible physical injury, or medical sicknesses.”
It was stated that major deterioration to the facility are currently causing disruptions to the operational functions of the establishment.
“It was identified that the current facility was not appropriate for providing elderly care services. However as a utilisation of the facility continues, it is mandatory for the necessary equipment and human resources to be considered,” the document stated.
It was recommended that security lighting be installed around the environs of the home care facility.
Further the report said: “During the temporary upgrade process, it is recommended that some modern equipment such as an inside lift or elevator be installed within the facility, for non-mobile and other residents who require emergency assistance, to be aided to, especially during the night.”

The Government’s priorities are mixed up. Along with health care, education, security (crime, etc) elderly care should be on the fore front. It is because of these people and their hard work and faith why we are here today enjoying our fruits. There should have been a proper facility built a long time ago for their comfort, relaxation and care. According to a wise man I know, he said, “there is so much money circulating
in the BVI, so why are we not much further along with
our health care, education, crime prevention measures, sewer problems, the infrastructure on a whole, etc.?” What is really happening to our monies? Things that make you go, hmmmmm………..Lord help us!!
so like y are we not using the new facility????
Ooooooo u get catch. Expose u’ll crookedness for what if is. Now is set up. Waste of time!
OBSERVER it goes to show just how much you care about our elderly. Wow! I hope you find a fountain of youth or some other majical portion so that you can say young forever. Putts
But I thought ooooo said VIP fixed this thing already? What the? Now he’s saying it’s a set up? LOL! Anybody can drive pass that place and see it’s a hell hole not even fit for animals but we put our elderly there. Enough politics man, we can do better for these people.
this is a set-up….me aint care wha a man say
You are the same one who say VIP did some renovations to the building…….LOL
A BUNCH OF WASTE VIP are!! Got a lot of kick backs on contracts and no work was done properly!!
You all will never sit in the Admin Complex again!!
Approximately one year ago major renovations and maintenance were carried out to that building to ensure that the building satisfied its purpose. I am shocked to hear calls are again being made to correct “life threatening problems” with in the same building.
There has not been an increase in occupancy and no weather systems have affected us, so what’s up? Let us hope that this is not another move like the Airport and the Dock intended only to speed up the Spooners resort in the back of no where.
NDP got in Nov 2011. The report that was done was from Jan 2011 – Dec 2011.
It is clear as day that the work that VIP paid their cronies to do was not done properly or was not done at all.
A lot of VIP Ministers got kick backs on a lot of contracts that is why no job can be completed!
