Today, July 27th is our 27th Anniversary. We are truly thankful to God for allowing us to see this great day. As we reflect, all we can do is give God all the praise for without Him we could not have made it this far. It’s the grace, the strength, the love, the mercies of God that has indeed kept us and is still keeping us.
God has been with us, is with us and will continue to be with us. The weapons formed, the storms raged, the arrow were sent, the jezebels, the hamans, the Judas, the curses sent, the negative words and evil plots: but GOD!!!! God has been with us and have kept us!! Glory be to GOD!!! Thanks to all those who has been fighting against us because it caused us to fast, pray and love each other more and as a result we are now a lot stronger, wiser, closer to God and each other.
The secret to our 27 years of marriage is having a foundation grounded and maintained in God through His Word, fasting and praying, unconditional love, forgiveness and allowing God to be the head of our union. Through the many challenges we have faced we have learned that in our own strength we can do nothing but with God as our strength and guide, we can come though every storm and face every giant and come out victorious. “Through God we shall do valiantly: for he it is that shall tread down our enemies.” Psalm 60:12 In our marriage we do all we know to do and allow GOD to fight our battles.
We have learnt not to allow the sun to go down on our wrath but that if we disagree to talk things out before we pray at nights. We have leant that neither of us is perfect, that God is still working on us, so we give room for forgiveness. It makes no sense for us to waste time fasting and praying as much as we do and still hold bitterness and unforgiveness, for our prayers will not be answered.
We have indeed seen the mighty hand of God intervening for us in all areas of our lives. God has given us much favor, blessed us beyond measure and caused our tables to be prepared countless times in the presence of our enemies.
We continually sow seeds of love and prayers into other marriages and families. We believe very strongly in the power of prayer and God’s ability to answer the prayers of the righteous.
God has helped us to grow and mature in Him, allowing us to trust Him more and depend more on His Holy Spirit to lead us. We have learned how to forgive those who have done us wrong and who are doing us wrong and to pray for them daily and not against them. We pray not only for our enemies, but for our family, friends, all in authority in this land, and whoever God brings before us.
Today we thank God for all our family, friends, our pastor and his wife and our church family. Our pastor and his wife are an example of a godly couple who practice what they preach and take time out to fast and pray for us and with which is one of the characteristics of divine covering.
We encourage you today as a spouse to allow God to be the ultimate head of your marriage. Spend quality time in prayer and fasting, spend quality time with your spouse. Do not allow anything or anyone to take the place that belongs to God or your spouse and family. Live in balance, God first, your spouse, then your ministry. Do not allow ministry to destroy your marriage for when you are alone and your children without their father/mother, the ministry will still be there. Be quick to forgive and do not be led by your flesh. Be very careful who you open up to about your challenges in your marriage or your spouse. Every friend is not a friend and some are on a mission to make marriages fail, and the last thing you need if you are facing marital problems is ungodly advice rooted in jealousy and bitterness. Allow God to help you to walk in the spirit and be the spouse He has created you to be. Fast and pray, pray, pray!!!!
Today, we will take some time out to pray for the marriages in this land, praying they will go according to the will of God and that arrows of the devil be aborted. We have truly been blessed with divine favor, all that was meant for evil in 27 years, God is working for our good. We look forward to the years ahead that we know will be greater than those past. We decree, declare and believe that our best is yet to come for the God who we serve is more than able.
To all of you who encourage us, pray for us, and wish us well, may God richly bless you. Always remember, that God loves and cares for you.
