“But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, toobserve to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that allthese curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee.” Deuteronomy 28:15

One of the sins that really rob us of enjoying the blessings of God in our lives as Christians is DISOBEDIENCE.

It is important that we not only know what God is saying to us in this hour but also to do what He tells us to do.

It is easy sometimes to just decide to go the other way because it may seem a lot easier and it may make more sense to us in the natural. However,God is the one who knows all things and He is the one who sees the whole picture. We only know in part and we only see in part.

When God gives us specific directions it is important that we obey them. To obey God’s instructions means to do ALL that He tells us to do, not just the part that makes sense to us.Often times Christians say, “Well, I don’t know what God is really saying to me.” We all have and have had those moments in our lives but as we grow and mature and spend more time communing with God we learn to know His voice. He said in John 10:27 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me” Many times we miss the voice of the Lord because we expect Him to speak to us in a particular way, at a particular place, at a particular time or through a particular person or source. But God is a God of variety. He cannot be put in a box.

The important thing is for us to know when the Lord is speaking to us and to do what He says to do. It is very dangerous to ignore the voice of the Lord or the leading of the Holy Spirit.Sometimes God speaks to us but we do not hear because what He is saying to us is not what we want to hear. So we keep asking Him over and over for confirmation and we get stuck on ‘Confirmation Avenue’.

Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong in asking God to confirm things to us but when He confirms and confirms and confirms and we still do not obey it is disobedience. Disobedience always has a price even if we repent. God is merciful but the consequences of disobedience are often highly priced. The question to you today is “Can you afford to pay the price of being disobedient to God? Disobedience many times causes us to sacrifice things and sometimes people that are very near and dear to us. You see, the way life is, the things we do or don’t do affect not only us but many other people. 1 Samuel 15:22 “And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD?Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.”

As we look in the Old Testament there are many examples of people who paid the price of disobedience. For some of them, it caused them their very life. God said that we should acknowledge Him in all our ways. Whatever instruction God gives us we are to be obedient to Him. Sometimes God tells us things that we may think are so simple but have long lasting consequences if we do not take heed. Take for example Samson.

God gave Him specific instructions which he disobeyed and this eventually caused Him His life.

How about you? Is there something in particular that God has really been speaking to you about lately? Have you been obedient or have you decided to ignore the voice of the Holy Spirit? God cares so much about us that He gave us His Holy Spirit who guides us into all  truth. Know for sure that anything that the Spirit of God tells you must be in line with the Word of God. God cannot go against His Word.

It is all good and well to receive prophetic words but it is important that each Christian learn to know the voice of God for themselves. Many false prophets are in the world and many people prophesy out of the flesh and not the spirit. There is also a strong spirit of manipulation and control in the body of Christ that deceive many. Once you are in tuned with the Spirit of the Lord, God will help you to discern which voice is of Him and which is not. Grow in grace.Develop your relationship with the Lord.

Learn how to commune with the Lord. Get in the word of God and meditate on it. Allow the Holy Spirit to really give you revelation knowledge as you read.

Do not disobey the voice of the Lord. Do not do anything because someone says to do it, if you know the Lord has told you otherwise or if it does not witness in your spirit. Sometimes we know what God said to us but when situations come we do the opposite and pay the price. You can never win by going against the Word of God or the voice of the Lord.

Being in the divine will of God is not always easy but it provides divine protection. Many Christians miss God because they are faced with the point of sacrifice they choose the permissive instead of the perfect will of God. We must realize that once we say yes to Jesus it is not OUR WILL but GOD’S WILL that must be done in our lives.

Jesus Christ made the ultimate sacrifice for us and we must be willing to do as Paul said in Philippians 3:8 “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ.”

Disobedience is the easiest way to cut off your harvest and blessings. It is the easiest way to shut up the windows of heaven from being opened unto us. Sometimes we blame the devil for so many things but there are times when we ourselves are to blame because disobedience brings curses.

We are all very much familiar with Deuteronomy 28:1-14 which talks about the blessings of obedience but from 15-68 talks about the curses that result from Disobedience.Read Deuteronomy Chapter 28. Yes, blessings come with persecution but let us be careful not to allow ourselves to be overtaken with attacks and curses because of disobedience in some area or areas of our life.

Have you been loving, giving, tithing, praying, forgiving, confessing, caring, obeying, blessing, meditating on the Word day and night, honest, trustworthy, thinking on things that are just, lovely, honest and of good report? Have you been loving your neighbor as yourself, praying for your enemies, not allowing the sun to go down on your wrath?

This verse is dropping in my spirit from Proverbs 6:16-19 “These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood,An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” We all need to examine ourselves.

It is our prayer today that all of us will take heed to what the Spirit of the Lord is saying to us and be obedient to His voice and His Word.
