“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” –  Psalm 46:1

The storms of life present themselves in many different ways.

Reality is that you are either in a storm, coming out of a storm or about to go through a storm.

Yet God is faithful and He has promised to never leave nor forsake His own.

Many people are trying to face the storms of life without God and it is like being on the rough seas without a life jacket.

The end result is that many are frustrated, depressed, bitter, angry and filled with issues.

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.”  Psalm 43:5  The storms of life …
When life gets too much for some people they commit suicide.  Others turn to drugs and alcohol, while others turn to illicit sex.  “The Lord also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble.”  Psalm 9:9  The storms of life …

Then there are those who when the storms of life hit them they take out their frustrations on family, friends, co-workers, church brethren or even strangers.  Many times when you see people treating you in a negative way, it is not necessarily because you have done them something wrong.  Sometimes it just happens that you are the person they decide to vent on or to release their frustrations.  This sort of behaviour of course is ruining many interpersonal relationships and many friendships.  “If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us.”  Psalm 124:2  The storms of life …

The rent is past due, and the landlord has served you notice.  You just got paid but the money can’t stretch.  The child is sick, the car broke down.  The mortgage is months behind and the bank collections officer is constantly calling.  The in-laws aren’t talking to you and you don’t even know why.  The children are rebelling and the spouse is ‘acting up’.  The boss has an attitude but you do not know what you did.  The co-workers are whispering but get quiet when you approach.  “In thee, O Lord, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness. Psalm 31:1  The storms of life …

You confided in the pastor, your church brethren or your friend.  Only to hear your business all over the land.  You are so hurt, the pain is almost unbearable.  People made you promises that they broke without even looking back.  They go on as if nothing really happened, but you are stuck to clean up the mess.  You thought you were moving forward when you got the new job; but now you realize you were better off at the old job that you had.  “O Lord my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me.”  Psalm 7:1  The storms of life…

It looks like you are happily married; at least that is what everyone thinks.  They do not know the hurt and pain, they do not see your tears and fears. Your spouse does not even see you need for affection, for intimacy, for love.  You struggle with addiction and skeletons from your past.  You thought that you had conquered but now you are hooked and bound.  When others had their problems, they knew your address but now that you are in need of help, there is no one to be found.  “…for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”  Hebrews 13:5b  The storms of life …

You desperately need a vacation but the money is just not there.  Your body is crying out for the break, your mind needs a rest.  You need a change of scenery but it is no where in sight.  You know your spouse is having an affair and the evidence is there.  You are asking yourself “Why did I get married?” or “Does anyone really care?” “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.”  Psalm 34:19  The storms of life …

God is saying to the burdened and the troubled today “Come”.  You may be in the middle of a relationship storm, a marriage storm, a financial storm, an infirmity storm – no matter what the situation is, God is willing and able to help you and to see you through.  Your burden today may seem heavy and at times feels too much to bear. Jesus Christ is saying today to come.  Let Him take care of your burdens.  “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”  Matthew 11:28
