“I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day.” – 2 Timothy 1:3
Election 2011 has ended and we now have a new government. Congratulations and God’s blessings to our new government. We will continue to pray for you just as we did for our last government.
We know that much prayer went up by many individuals, churches, prayer groups in and out of this land for the elections. Our challenge to the prayer warriors is we cannot afford to stop praying. We cannot afford to relax and think that it is over because the truth is it is has just begun.
We must continue to fast and pray as God leads us and do whatever we can to support our new government. In 1 Timothy 2: 1it states “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.” Notice it does not say if you like the people in authority or if you think they should be there.
To the members of our new Government we say “Congratulations” and we pray that you will seek God in all things and allow Him to lead, guide and direct you. You cannot be successful and fulfill your mandate without the help of the Lord. Remember, the words of John 15:5 “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” Also take heed to the words of Proverbs 3:5-7 “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil.” Know that we will continue to fast and pray on your behalf as you serve this territory.
Our responsibility as Christians is to pray for our leaders. Pray that they do what God wants them to do and that they make the decisions that God wants them to make. Pray that they seek God for divine directions and that when He directs them they follow in His ways. Pray that when they have to speak that God will cause the right speeches to be written or if it on the spot, He fill their mouth with the words He wants them to say. “The lips of the righteous feed many but fools die for want of wisdom.” Proverbs 10:21 Pray that their staff be committed and loyal and not ones who would undermine, sabotage or sell them out.
Pray that God will expose and reveal to them any enemy, Judas or Haman who is posing as a friend for the purpose of their demise, destruction or leaking sensitive and confidential information. Pray that they walk in righteousness and in the fear of the Lord. Pray that they submit themselves to the authority placed over them and they be not rebellious. Pray that they be not influenced in anyway by Jezebel’s manipulation, deception, control or intimidation. Pray that God gives them eagles eyes so they may see both in the spiritual and in the natural. Pray that they not be entangled with corruption, wickedness, evil, bribes or accept evil counsel and lies as truth. Pray that they take a stand for righteousness, justice and walk in the fear of the Lord. Pray that whatever they do and say may be in direct alignment with God’s plans and purpose for this territory.
Pray that they do not just what is right but what is righteous, not just what is good but what is godly. Pray that God keep them in unity and that the peace of God rule and reign in their lives and in all their endeavors. Pray that God gives them vision that will put this territory in the place where God wants it to be. Pray that God shows them the other areas besides tourism and finance where our territory can arise, become self sufficient and acquire great wealth. Pray that they will listen to the concerns and hear the cries of the people; and not only be moved with compassion but do what is in their power to help. Pray that all contracts will be fairly tendered and that they be given to the ‘right’ contractors. Pray that the finances will become available to pay outstanding, long standing invoices.
Pray that all the plans of the enemy to cause them to divide and cause confusion among them be nullified in the name of Jesus Christ. Pray that the high level of trust among them be not destroyed. Pray that they do not be influenced by the world, the flesh or the devil. Pray that they be godly examples as they lead. Pray that when faced with challenges they will take the time necessary to seek God and Godly advice and not allow the pressures or ungodly advice of men to make them act unwisely.
Pray that they see their role as one of great importance and that in their hearts they will commit to walking in excellence, integrity and divine wisdom as they execute their duties. Pray that they do not use their position of authority in any way to manipulate, intimidate, control, impose unfair judgments, injustice, be respecters of persons or oppress people or delay progress. Pray that they always act in a manner of accountability and responsibility. Pray that they will serve with humility and that they resist the temptation to be proud, high-minded, unapproachable, arrogant and stubborn. “I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.” Psalm 101:2 Pray that they will behave themselves wisely and walk before God with a perfect heart. Pray that they always remember the affirmation they have made to put the needs and best interest of the territory and the people first at all times as they serve.
Pray that God will give them the wisdom to make right the things that are wrong and to put into legislation the bills that will help our territory in all areas to progress and prosper. Pray that they labor not in vain. “The labour of the righteous tendeth to life.” Proverbs 10:16a Pray that they keep the territory informed and keep the promises that they have made to the people to the best of their ability and the resources available to them. Pray that they manage the finances of the territory with divine wisdom, responsibility and accountability. Pray that all audits and other accounting processes be carried out in a timely manner. Pray that they be wise and honest stewards of all that is placed in their hands.
Pray that they will have spiritual insight and spiritual foresight, 20/20 spiritual vision. Pray that they receive godly ideas, dreams and visions as they move forward. Pray that the decisions that they make will help and have a positive impact not only on current but on future generations. Pray that the decisions they make will help to eliminate a lot of the social ills in our territory. Pray that there is a high level of transparency and honesty in our new government. Pray for their divine protection and for the protection and well being of their families, possessions and businesses as they stand on the front line.
Pray that no evil befall them and no plague come nigh their dwelling. Pray that no weapon formed against them, their families their possessions or positions prosper and that every tongue that rises up against them in judgment will be condemned. Pray that despite their busy schedule and responsibilities they will take adequate time out to spend with God and with their families; spouses, children, parents, siblings etc.. Pray that the plans of the enemy against them will not prevail but that they be protected and covered with the Blood of Jesus Christ. Pray that they be successful in fulfilling the mandate for which God has allowed them to be in office and that at the end of their tenure, God be praised and glorified. In Jesus name saints, let us pray without ceasing.
So prayer warriors, our prayer mandate have not ended because the election is over, it has just begun. For many changes and challenges are ahead and we must be on a spiritual alert much more so now than ever. Remember, our land needs a healing that can only come through the directions of 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Let us continue to fast and “Pray without ceasing.” Thessalonians 5:17
