BVI News obtained a statistical report of visitor arrivals to the Territory in 2010 from the BVI Tourist Board. The year saw 501, 451 cruise ship visitors, 330,343 overnighters and 10,703 day trippers for a grand total of  842,497 visitors.

January was the highlight of the year as there were 106,427 cruise ship visitors, 31,410 overnighters and 1,643t day trippers.

February realised a significant drop in cruise ship visitors with only 88,634 cruise passengers. There was an increase in the number of overnight visitors, which stood at 32,618. There were only 1,040 day trippers that month.

The second highest number of cruise ship passengers 95,565 was recorded in March 2010. The largest number of overnight visitors was also recorded in March with a record 41,914 persons.

Visitor arrivals began declining in April just ahead of the usual slow season, May – October.

Only 55,288 cruise ship passengers visited in April, with 35,707 overnighters. April, however, recorded the second highest number of day trippers for that 2010 with 1,130.

Truly reflecting the slow season only 3,608 cruise ship passengers arrived in June. The lowest number of overnighters 7,837 in September.

September also recorded the lowest number of day trippers along with October; there were only 412 day trippers in each month.

December enjoyed an improvement after the slow season  with 72,555 cruise ship passengers, 32,301 overnighters and 1,035 day trippers.
