Am I a sex addict?

I think I have a problem. It started when I was roughly 12-years old. It was then I notice that I love sex. At first I thought it was just hormones or a teenage thing since we were told in school we normally go through that stage.
But as time goes by I realize that love for sex has turned into a burning urge. I want it more and more. No matter what I do, I feel I want more. I have been with a lot of guys hoping that one of them would put out that fire but it won’t stop.
In a sense I know something might be wrong, maybe an illness but on the other hand I am really enjoying it.
So I am getting more and more confused. I am 17 now. Am I a sex addict? Will this thing pass?
What should I do?

Dear Anonymous,
Based on your description you have a sex addiction. It leads to unhealthy sexual practices and habits. It is a disorder which can have damaging implications to you emotionally and psychologically.
It can be treated but it requires you to first admit and accept that you have this disorder. Having done this you educate yourself about the disorder to learn ways by which you can treat it. The treatment comprises controlling the impulses or addictive behavior and this requires discipline and commitment.
You may be enjoying the feeling but you need to be mindful of the need to develop healthy sexual behaviours and practices which does not include a variety of sex partners. You should also consider counseling.

I would recommend that you go to the upcoming deliverance services at New Life Baptist Church on April 7th and 8th. You probably have a sex demon in you. Ask GOD to break this habiit, for you will be ruined after a while.

You are only seventeen, do you know that there are a vast number of words in the dictionary other than sex? or when was the last time you used a dictionary. @Sticky, chupz get real. this is 2011. u can read books and have sex and still be educated. please stop this madness. She may be craving it because it satisfies a lack in some other emotional aspect of her life. She could be responding to past sexual abuse. Or she may just have an extremely high sex drive. As long as she is being safe and NOT jumping from guy to guy to solve the problem, she’ll be fine.
Girl, you gonna get “burned” and regret these promiscuous days. You want to know why you can’t find relief? Because the little boys have no idea what they doing and you likely don’t either! Sex is good and fun….for adults. I suggest you take back the control. Go have a physical and make certain you haven’t caught HIV/AIDS, herpes, HPV, chlamydia or any other sexually transmitted disease. Then focus your energy on something more positive. Take up jogging or martial arts. Set a physical goal and excel. Your hormones are raging but your physical desires can be controlled and you have to be strong to do so. Once you know how to control your body then you will be closer to being physically mature. Know also that quality sex with a person who knows how to make your body sing will be able to satisfy “your burning urge”. You’re never going to find a good man and a good lover if you continue to be a whore. You’ll also learn one day that sexual satisfaction for women comes from more than just the act of sex. You are presently making unwise decisions that can negatively impact the course of your life.
