Wednesday, August 25– The Civil Registry and Passport Office has announced an increase in British Passport Fees.

Effective July 5, persons applying for British Passports will have to pay in addition to postage fees, $205 for an adult 32 page passport and $247 for an adult 48 page passport. The fee for a child 32 page passport with validity for five years is $130.

Registrar-General, Mrs. Stephanie Benn explained to the Department of Information and Public Relations that, “The passport team in Washington’s aim is to issue all new passports within four weeks. The processing time will commence from the date payment is accepted.”

Mrs. Benn is also reminding the public that, “Effective August 2009 applications for British Passports are now processed and printed in Washington DC and should be sent via the courier of your choice or registered post directly to: The UK Passport Service Centre for the Americas and Caribbean, British Embassy, 19 Observatory Circle, NW, Washington DC 20008-361.”

“It is strongly recommended that you always refer to the website for fees before you submit your application as fees are subject to change without notice,” Mrs. Benn explained.

This is an outrageous wrip-off!! How much time this fee raise since it’s introduction BUDDY? This gotto be the third or so time…OMG!!

ALSO, IS A U.K. PASSPORT NECESSARY???

My friend just came back from England spending her vacation there and she told me that she used her Tortola passport to enter the country and to top it off…she was placed in the residence line and went straight through without any hassle. They didn’t even stamped her passport. They treated her as if she was coming home. SO IS A U.K. PASSPORT NECESSARY AT ALL????????????? I for one ant getting any, that money could come in handy to do samethine else.
