JUNE 21—The top BVI female athletes will compete in the Bahamas and Jamaica’s Olympic Games Trials starting on Friday.
Tahesia Harrigan-Scott and Karene King will compete in the Bahamas Olympic Trials in the 100 and 200m respectively. While Harrigan-Scott—who has been slowed by injury—has an Olympic Games A qualifier in the 100m, King is searching for the mark in the 200m.
She has a season’s best of 23.43 seconds and has run a wind aided 23.27 seconds, with the race recording a +2.1 meters per second tailwind, which was over the allowable 2-0 mps. King has also run 23.37 again a wind-assisted race and need to run under 23.30 to meet the B qualifying standard.
Chantel Malone and Ashley Kelly will compete in the Jamaica Olympic Games trials in pursuit of their marks.
Malone has posted a season’s best of 52.48 in the 400m and needs a mark of 52.35—which is her career best—for a B qualifying mark.
Kelly will also contest the 400m and has a season’s best of 52.77. Her personal best is 52.71. She’s likely to tackle the 200m where she has a run 23.54 this season and a career best of 23.49.
Athletes have until July 8 to qualify for the London Olympic Games, which opens on July 27 and runs through August 12.
The track and field segment of the Games starts on August 3.

Let’s go Chantel, Ashley and Karene…time to get qualified! We have not been hearing much from Tahesia….these injuries seem to be a bother for her…she needs to work her way through them…..she has a lot of track (and potential) to run, no time for injuries.
