Government officials from both the British Virgin Islands (BVI) and the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) will meet in St. Thomas, USVI today to address areas of mutual interest and concern at the 5th Inter Virgin Islands Council (IVIC) Meeting.
Speaking to the Department of Information and Public Relations, Assistant Secretary in the Premier’s Office Ms. Najan Christopher said, “The IVIC provides a framework for continuous discussions between the two territories. The meeting is held to discuss any issues of mutual concern and to explore avenues for further cooperation and initiatives to maintain or enhance the relationship shared by the BVI and USVI.”
Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE will lead the BVI delegation which includes Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Mark Vanterpool, and representatives from the Premier’s Office, BVI Tourist Board, Ministry of Communications and Works, Ministry of Natural Resources, Ministry of Health and Social Development, the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force and the Archives and Records Unit.
