Officers are working diligently on tackling serious and unsolved crimes that have confronted the Territory, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police David Morris.

At a recent press conference Morris stated with the assistance of the United Kingdom officers inroads have been made with at least three unsolved murders.

“I have been reviewing the UK officers’ contributions in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID),” the newly appointed Deputy COP said.

He also outlined some areas that will be revamped to ensure officers have the right tools in solving crimes.

“Our Forensic capabilities are being developed within the islands…we need that capability to secure crime scenes and forensics. We are developing technology in terms of crime investigation and how we protect witnesses that come forward. There is a lot of working doing around the serious crime issues that confront the Territory,” Morris disclosed to reporters.

The new DCOP was introduced to the media two weeks ago and brings with him over 25 years of experience to the Royal Virgin Islands police force.

Morris is here on a three year contract. Prior to his arrival in June 2010 he was an Assistant Chief Constable in the South Wales Police force in the UK.

I think what they are doing now is grabbing at straws, they have not even got off the mark yet. I believe they are to taken up with other things besides what the came here for and trying their best to secure positions within the force for other UK officers to come in. The country cannot afford to waste that kind of dollars anymore. These guys contracts are soon to me expired and it’s not after almost 2 years we are hearing that they making inroads into unsolved murders. PLEASE! COME BETTER THAN THAT DEPUTY. Another thing, I saw you walking about in your uniform without you cap, seems like you already fit in and pick up the bad habit, thought you came here to make changes, but as one blogger said on another post, a couple sailing trips and night out at at some late night bars and we will see what you made of.

Thank you very much. Some months ago there was a statement that those UK Officers are close to cracking Kendoy’s Murder, we are still waiting for them to make that arrest. They say they come here to review murders, but is the same local officers we are seeing going out to re-interview witnesses, so i wonder what was the need for those UK Officers here. I hope the Government realized the economic situation in the Territory and will not venture into renewing those UK Officers Contracts. For them to come here and using the same local officers to go out and do all the enquiries while they sit in office and pass orders is highly outrageous. We want to see them out making enquiries, that’s what they were contracted for, not for them to send out the same officer who were there working on the cases all the time. One of the things they had said is that people don’t trust the local officers and will prefer to speak to them, so we will like to see them out there interviewing people and gathering evidence.

Nonsense. It’s obvious thatt the new Deputy Commissioner is trying desperately to make a case for these waste of tax payers money to stay here in the BVI and enjoy a little more of the sun, sea, sand, and the beer whuich is the miain reason why they are here. In roads? please! Those unsolved murders will remain just as they are. Try again Deputy. We will not be fooled.
