It was indeed “Joy to Adina Donovan Senior Citizens Home” where the Delta Petroleum Carolers led by Regional General Manager, Mr. Bevis Sylvester made their final stop for the season on Tuesday 20th December.

Bearing gifts for every member of the home as well as a fruit basket, the Delta team entertained the senior citizens with songs like, Silent Night, Joy to the World, Hark the Herald and much more.

Most of the patients present including 100 year old Ms Vivian Hodge all joined in and sang to their hearts content. Ms. Hodge celebrated her birthday in August.

Mr. Sylvester, in his brief remarks stated that it is always indeed a pleasure to visit the home and bring cheer to the citizens in their golden years. According to him, “they have worked hard to make us what we are today.” He promised that Delta will endeavor in the upcoming year to make at least two visits to the home. He also commended the director, Mrs. Victoria Wheatley and her staff for the good job that they are doing and noted how well kept and comfortable the home is.

Sylvester presented each patient at the home with a gift package and wished them all the best for the Holiday Season.

Director of the home extended gratitude to Delta for their kind gesture.

Delta Petroleum will also be making similar visits the in St Kitts and Nevis market.

Prior to visiting the Adina Donavan Home, Delta Carolers made stops at the Her Majesty’s Prisons and the Rainbow Children’s Home.

I believe he said something like “that white man at T&C job should go to a local person”. I don’t understand how ANYONE can say that this was a racist comment. Was it the use of the word “white”? Or was it saying that the job should go to a local? The “white” ppl on the island call locals “black”. The locals call them “white”. Since when is this not acceptable in our islands? If it is that the job should go to a local, what is wrong with this? If a local is qualified to fill the position then what is wrong with saying that? Since when we start trying to act like Americans calling everything “racist”? strups.. Why are we spending so much time on this issue? I see a lot more racial profiling going on on these blogs with ppl talking bad about our brothers and sisters from down island. Let’s stop being so hypocritical ppl. Enough now about this stupid Bevis speech, cos, we say “white” man ALL the time in these islands and don’t mean anything negative about it. Outside of the speech nonsense, I think that Bevis has and continues to take the lead on giving back. Not many companies do that. I say THANK you to any company or anyone who gives back to their community…

Say what you may about this guy Bevis, whom I do not know personally, it appears everytime I read an article about Delta, it describes him & the company giving back to the community in some way. So, I say kudos to him.

Caring, loving, racist and prejudiced! We are still are awaiting an apology for his racist remarks in his failed election campaign. In the meantime many of us are boycotting Delta as there is no place for racism in this society.

Just that you know, I abhor racism of any kind including those who speak of “down islanders” “garrots”, “expats” etc disarmingly. I am aware of what was allegedly said during the campaign, and I obviously do not agree with those alleged statements.

In my initial post, I just wanted to comment on Delta’s and Bevis’s philanthropy. If Bevis has offended people in the way you appear to have been offended, I would think it would be incumbent upon him to address the matter sooner rather than later particularly while associated with Delta which places the company and his job potentially at a disadvantage.

If he misspoke or does not believe in his heart what was allegedly said, he should perhaps do as you suggested, and get it behind. In my view it would be the right thing to do. But short of an apology, I would suggest that you move on. You are entitled to not purchase gas from Delta. Unfortunately, life is filled with people who says plenty of things that many of us find reprehensible, and we cannot practically address them all.

          By the way, Merry Christmas.
