Deputy Governor, Mrs. V. Inez Archibald commended the six public officers that were recognised as the Government’s Employees of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2012 for their exemplary service.
The recognition ceremony, which was held last week at the Public Service Training Centre recognised Lorna Stevens, Ministry of Education and Culture, Craig Creque, Department of Information Technology, Corina Corea, Department of Waste Management, Dwayne Mactavious, Department of Information and Public Relations, Vereen Benjamin Hazel, Training Division and Ishma Edwards, Department of Labour.
The Deputy Governor, delivering congratulatory remarks, said “I am delighted to share these moments with the honourees and their families. I express my thanks on behalf of the public service particularly on behalf of His Excellency the Governor, for your commitment to working hard and diligently to ensure that this journey we are on to produce and develop a world class public service is very much a reality.”

The Deputy Governor also expressed her thanks to the honourees’ families for the support they have given over the years.
The honourees in their response, which was done via a video presentation, shared the importance of service, team work, determination, achievement, positivity and motivation as the six attributes that guide them daily in performing their duties.
They also expressed their appreciation to the Government of the Virgin Islands for the opportunity to serve and to their colleagues for nominating them, and for their continued support and encouragement in helping them in accomplishing their daily tasks.
In addition to the six honourees, Devaurne Tyson of Magistracy was recognised as the top nominee.
The Employee of the Quarter initiative was launched in 2005 as a means of recognising public officers who exceed expectations and set an example for their fellow public officers. This service-wide ‘ministerial level’ recognition programme is administered by the Department of Human Resources’ Employee Relations Unit.
