APRIL 24—Lavern “Ebony” Fahie had a field day on Sunday in the Johnny Hassan Women’s Football League playing against debutants VG United.

Merely six minutes into the game, the striker had a hat trick en route to scoring six goals on the evening, in what was termed “Ebony Day” during her team’s 13-0 rout of VG United.

Fahie’s scoring binge began two minutes in and continued through the 50th –including assists off a corner and scoring from penalties—with other goals in the 3rd, 6th, 11th and 38th, against the spirited VG United Squad—many suiting up for the first time.

Between Fahie’s barrage, Dalia Sonny got in the act in the 12th, Kelaine Smith added another two to the tally, in the 17th and 34th, while goalie Britney Peters scored from a penalty in the 36th. Jsally O’Neal was the fifth player to find the nets, when she added her score in the 39th.

VG United’s Philomena “Philo” Robertson had helped her opponents with a score in the ninth minute of play off an own goal, while Pamela Smith—new comer to goal keeping who improved as the game progressed with several crucial saves—had an own goal when the ball barely broke the plain in the second half.

The other women’s match saw Ball Stars securing a 3-2 victory over the Wolues. Sapphie Flax who has been scoring in every match so far, connected twice,  (27,34) after Phelia James opened their account in the 23rd.

Before leaving with a right foot injury, Wolues’ Kyria Ali scored twice from penalties, (10,37) for their scores.

With the Men’s National League coming towards a close, One Love used goals by Damien Morgan (36) and Colin Green (59), to beat Ball Stars, 2-1. Carlos Septus had Ball Stars’ score in the 68th.

Old Madrid turned a 3-0 halftime lead into a 5-1 victory over the Lucian Stars. Accounting for the scores were: Sheldon Harry, (5); Dion “Ragga” Clarke, (15, 54) and Kenmore Peters, (32, 67).

Cyprian Antoine had Lucian Stars’ only score in the 51st.

VG United trimmed their Virgin Gorda counterparts Sugar Boys, 3-2.

Javier Garcia opened VG United’s account nine minutes in, before they fell behind 2-1 by half time, after Lucian Stars’ Jievnick Mingo (17) and Maxford Pipe, (39) scored.

Eight minutes in to the second half, Daren Williams brought VG United even, and with his opponents guard down, David Baptiste capitalized four minutes into extra time for the thrilling victory.

Haitian Stars forfeited to the Islanders, as they did not field a squad at match time.
