Education Minister Andrew Fahie

BVI Minister for Education and Culture, the Hon Andrew Fahie praises the petroleum giant, Delta Petroleum for what he has dubbed as their continuous and significant contributions to the holistic economic growth and development of the BVI.

Minister Fahie made this disclosure while speaking at the closing ceremony for Delta Petroleum’s 25th anniversary celebration.

He said that it is the hope of his government that other private companies would emulate the gigantic and similar worthwhile contributions that have been and continues to be made by Delta Petroleum.

The Government Minister said that his administration salutes the enormous work that has been done in helping to further build the territory, noting that Delta Petroleum has played a major role.

He urged staff of Delta Petroleum to continue to be loyal and faithful to Delta Petroleum, further pointing out that they should be proud of being a part of a company like Delta.

“Many persons today are seeking a pay cheque, but it is important to make a contribution to the community, while in partnership with your employer.  As he has witness other companies stepping up and doing more for the youths and communities throughout the BVI, which speaks to being a good corporate citizen.  However, more companies need to take on that attitude of leaving a rich legacy, said Fahie.

He stressed that the company would not have been where it is had it not been for the visionary, creative and innovative leadership offered by its Regional General Manager, Bevis Sylvester and the hard work by staff members of Delta. “No company can achieve greatness if its staff is not committed and dedicated thus it is important that I equally to note that Delta Petroleum had some tough times, but look how far the company has come thus far, he said.”

The Education and Culture Minister declared that his administration will continue to seek ways and avenues of forging a much closer and productive relationship with Delta Petroleum reiterating his call for other companies to lead. He explained that the private sector should play an integral role urging all to do their part in the further building and development of the BVI.

“Too often companies wait upon Government before doing their part and I must stress how happy and excited I am to see Delta Petroleum leading the way with its many initiatives and projects. I would like to publicly thank them and their Regional General Manager, who has been the catalyst of the company by playing a good part in all of this,” he declared.

A visit by Pastor Ajroon Roopnarine, of Trinidad, declared the event as a great success for the company noting that Delta Petroleum shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water. He declared that its leaves shall not whither and whatever the company puts its hands upon shall prosper, because of its commitment to putting God first.

Meanwhile, Regional Organisational Manager (ROM) Chaunci Cline along with RGM Mr. Bevis Sylvester shared profound memories of the company’s 25 years of service in the BVI and the region. They also spoke about the significance meaning of the time capsule and when it is opened 25 years from now. Sylvester expressed the desire that he is around to witness this great legacy.

The RGM also provided the opportunity for each staff and visitor present to receive a $1,000 legacy note that would be redeemable 25 years from now on the same date, July 31, 2036.

Delta Petroleum 25th Anniversary went down in history as a ‘One moment in time.’
