Agriculture supporter and talk show host Edmund Maduro said he is against the Farmers on the Move Group’s plans to boycott the annual agricultural week activities.
Maduro’s comments were fuelled by comments made by a caller to the show, “BVI Forums”, broadcasted on CBN on January 27, announcing the decision made by the agriculture group.
“Farmers on the Move headed by a young man, who recently ran for elections, are planning to boycott the agriculture show and keep their own show sometime later on,” the caller informed Maduro.
The host, who at first expressed shock, stated: “I am totally against it. You can’t have things going on like this when the minister came out and he tried. Yes, we have problems in the agricultural department and we got to fix those problems. I would never support such a situation because I think that it is ludicrous and I think it is against the will of good governance since this government has got in and has tried to meet with the people. We should see what we can do to help the government to help the people; dialogue is the key.”
He added: “How are we going to be looking for support from government if we going 180 degrees from what they are trying to do… Well, I don’t know but that one shocked me. It is the first time I am hearing and I would like to send a message to my colleagues who are doing this to stop it right now; we must stop dividing ourselves… let us pull ourselves together despite of the problem.”
Maduro went on to say that he will not be a part of the move even if he was approached to do so.
“Any of them come to me or I will still look for them and tell them listen, have we gone mad? I cannot understand that one at all because I personally have been speaking with the minister for agriculture. I am not in favour of this side-line behaviour. Is it a political move? Well then if it is a political move it’s a bad one, oh no, oh no gentlemen and ladies whoever you are stop, think about what you are doing do not divide the people of the British Virgin Islands for Christ sake, regardless of our problem let us stick together, let us work together.”

not really a good move ,but by any means necessary we must get their attention.
ebverybody should boycott farmers week
(Shaking my head!) Another set of locals making us look bad. WE can’t even plan and/or maintain a simple farming activity but we want to convince people that we are ready to run their multi-million dollar operations? Schuups! This is just stupid! As someone said, why not just cancel the damn thing!
People look forward to taking their families out for those few days, to see the animals, check out the produce from farmers etc. It’s usually a very nice outing. Now look, we find away to F it up just like everything else. And people still wondering why the Governments, past and present are ignoring this lunatic name Khoy Smith? Why don’t he focus his efforts on closing rum bars and whore houses and let the farmers do their thing. Absolute clown! Just because Kedrick didn’t write him a check for $1Million dollars for his cock farm, he vex! Go go sit dung!
them got a doggone right
I FOR ONCE agree with Edmund. However i have another farmer related problem. There is a farmer up the road from me who lets his cows out and they come in my yard and have scratched up my car, I am wondering if i have the right to kill one of these cows? I am getting fed up.
Fence your property?
Seems to me killing one of the cows might be legally justified under these circumstances, but before you go there, may I suggest as a friendly neighbor speaking with that farmer up the road and draw his attention to your plight? I’m assuming that you have not done this thus far.
If you have spoken with him, and the cows repeatedly return to your property & cause further damage, then the next thing I would suggest you might consider short of killing one of his cows is to take him to court for damages to your car and any other property. That should get his attention.
Now, in the event you your frustration boils over, and you do decide to kill one of his cows, do give me a call. I’ll be happy to share the meat with you. Just refrigerate it until I get there, and let this be between us only.
I agree with points 1 & 3. Skip point 2 too dang long. Goats came on my land and ate my plants (not the wild bush but rather my plants I spent money to get). I told the owner. The response was not favorable. They returned two weeks later. All I am saying — DELICIOUS!! They split between my home and five other homes. Goat meat for months. Since then no more goats on my land. Send a cow I could use the meat.
Send some beef my way!!!!
Please for the head…cow head souse is the best!! Thanks..
Contact the Dept of Agriculture they usually come out to pick up farmers animals who are being nusance to people. I have seen them done it several times.
I say cancel the whole thing this year! They say the country is not financially stable at the moment anyway, so why waste time, energy and money to pull off an event that people don’t appreciate?
If the farmers dont turn up i suggest that we disband the Agriculture department and put our taxpayers money into something more worthwhile for our community – such as education.
Its a bit to late to cancel but I would suggest that they have farmers week every 2 years rather than every year.
these farmers getting ungrateful just like the taxi men
united we stand, divided we fall
