NDP 2nd District candidate Claude Skelton-Cline

If the people vote no one else out of office, they must unseat the representative of the third district home, said Claude Skelton-Cline of the National Democratic Party (NDP), as he continued to skin Julian Fraser, exposing what he considers to be his many infractions as an individual, a minister and a district representative.

Speaking at the party’s rally in the third district for Kevin ‘OJ’ Smith yesterday, Cline cited the Biwater agreement, which he contends was never a tendered contract, the improper sale of BVI Cable Television, Fraser’s “one-sided” approach to development in the district and his onslaught of the once respected and honoured Virgin Islands Party (VIP).

“That is not liberation. That is enslavement and we ought to send him home,” Cline said, as he  asked that people of the district ensure that “if nobody else goes home, the member of the third district goes home”.

The pastor channeled his attention to the Biwater contract, which he said is not only the biggest contract in the Virgin Islands but it is also the contract that is going to have the longest period and holds with it the greatest and most important commodity on the planet – water, the one element  that man cannot live without.

“The liberator took the biggest contract with the longest period of time for the most important commodity on the planet  out of the hands of BVIslanders and put it in the hands of others. That is not forward ever. That is not liberation…” Cline said. “That is backward ever and forward never. That is not opportunity for all. That is opportunity for everybody else except BVIslanders.”

Cline pointed out he is not against the member of the third district as a man, but rather his contention lies with his policies and practices.

“Everybody except the member of the first district has accepted everything that the member of the third district has done. That makes them culpable their silence gave consent,” the NDP Second District candidate said.

He urged that the BVI recognize that the VIP which exists today is the party that symbolizes the disenfranchisement of BVIslanders.

“The Virgin Islands Party that we see today is not the party of the honourable Lavity Stoutt. It is a mutation, it is something else,” he said.

I have very little respect for these so called men of God here in the BVI. It seems like money is their greatest motivator, not God. Pastor Mills of the Baughers Bay Church of God (Holiness)is one of the few that could be called a true man of God. The majority of the others are wolves in sheep clothing.

I placed thithe following on Platinum after reading all the negative comments against Pastor Cline. I know it will not be published there so I now copy here:

“Please leave Pastor Claude alone he is a man of God who has been angered to the point where, like Jesus, he needs to pick up the whip and use it on you vip Christians until you realise that you are part of the problem with these Virgin Islands.

How could you criticise the Pastor for speaking the truth? He has on many occasions outlined his plans for the district yet you act as if you don’t know. Why not ask Alvin to show what he did over the four years.

You criticise him for talking about SATAN when his profession is to tell us about the wages of dabbling with this evil being. Remember it was the Premier who started threatening Archie and Myron and calling NDP the “Demon Party”.

You criticise him for acting as a stateside candidate when it was in that environment he learnt his skills. Do you want him to pretend that he is something that he is not? Don’t we have enough false politicians running the VI Party?

Come on people, leave the Good Pastor alone and give him the opportunity to move the 2nd District and the BVI forward.

FORWARD EVER VIP NEVER. VOTE NDP ALL THE WAY…………

I thought at the beginning of his campaign that politics and religion don’t mix and every time I hear and/or read the words spoken by Skelton-Cline I see a man veering away from the very essence of what a pastor is to me. The last person I would want to see in office again is Fraser, but I think the BVI would have the “same problem, different man” if the 2nd district votes Skelton-Cline in.

In my opinion, his constant use of the term slavery, used behind several of his arguments, is merely playing on the emotions that are pitted with it. He belittles us. I am also of the mind that a pastor is not someone who should negatively judge and call names of others. The entire campaign tactic is a form of fear mongering; and yes, he is not the only one guilty of this practice. There also are a good mixture of xenophobic undertones thrown into the campaign for good measure. I would have been more impressed had he run being honorable to his station as a pastor. No mud-slinging, no name calling, no attack on others, but rather a clean election based on what he would like to do for the district and the country, how he plans on getting it done, and how he intends to be there for ALL the people of the district and the country. I’ve lost faith in this candidate.

So a pastor don’t have to live with the political policies and guidelines of government? To me that makes him qualified to have an opinion, and to voice it. Do you people watch world news and see the involvement of pastors and churches in politics? The Pope has his opinions on politics, Billy Graham and otheres. So why are you ostrasizing Claude? You lost faith in Claude because he is voicing his opinion and has decided that he wants to see a change in our country, and has participated to help bring this about. That is not much to lose faith in a person for, if you had any faith in him in the first place. You people have prejudices within that is knawing away at the very core of what is decent as a human being. Sorry but you need to examine yourself and see if what you have written has any merit.

Although I am no fan of Fraser, I do not blame him fully because it was the Premier – the leader of government business, who signed the contract.

Here this HL Stout made Noel stand up against taking away our land and water and we must do the same with this BI WATER DEAL. IT’s Just Wrong and the entire VIP is defending it.Stop blaming Frazer Alone its his entire gang

But what wrong with this Pastor? I grew up with this party, and all that has been changing are members. And guess what, new members come in and learn from the experienced, stable ones. This is why it will forever remain the party for stability, experience, commitment, for the people and by the people and Opportunities for All. Isn’t this the same Territory that you ran to from Detriot? Yes, it is. How dare you.

why you all keep bringing up this Detroit situation? how much people from here left the BVI and has returned home? many of them!this is the man’s home. If the Mayor he was working with did something wrong and because of that he lost his job and decide to come home what that has to do with the man? come on, you all need to stop it.

I live right here, and from the tone of your comment, I have been living here longer than you. Stop screaming. I’ve worked for everything I have, and continue to work. I don’t need any Party to give me anything. Furthermore, you need to do more research on the Overseas Territories issue with this Budget thing. You don’t have all the facts and THAT’S A FACT. Your comment pointed that out. I will be voting for country and I have been over 39 years now. All is not well, no where in this World. The recession is all over, and that’s a fact. What hurts america hurts us. THAT’S A FACT! We continue to put ourselves in trouble, because is is economically known that when a country keeps changing its Government it’s a sign of instability. Go research that. I was thinking on voting some NDP cause I love some of those guys, but i think I will go straight. I will leave on my green glasses and stay green blind.

The biggest mistake one can make is to vote for the party and not the man/woman. Especially here and the manner in which district reps have power to apply favoritism and allocate government money as the deem fit. You should be voting for the individual; the one who cares about the good of the BVI and all its people. The one with not only vision, but the gumption and the determination to work to bring that vision to fruition. The one to be constant in fighting for what is right.

It is never the responsible vote to allow persons to be elected who haven’t the “right stuff” and to hope they will be indoctrinated into the party’s ways.
