For HLSCC there are 157 students graduating – 42 males and 115 females – 17 certificate, 145 degrees.
Seven students are receiving 2 certificates/degrees.
There are 49 CMI students up for graduation – 7 males and 42 females – 15 Certificate, 17 Diploma and 15 Executive Diploma.
The total number (HLSCC and CMI) is – 206 – 49 males and 154 females.
SPEECHES
Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society – BOS Chapter 2012 Grandaunts Accomplishments
• 27 Phi Theta Kappa Members amongst the graduating class
• 1 member won Regional Art Competition awarded to Michael Boyd
• 1 member won Regional Essay Competition awarded to Renata Rubaine
• 18 members have participated in Regional and International conferences
• For the second consecutive year the Chapter has been the only International Chapter to ever earn four stars in the organization’s five star tier system
• Our Chapter can now boast of the first Coca Cola Scholar outside of the United States awarded to Esteban Smith
• Our first Guistewhite Scholar outside of the United States awarded to Esteban Smith
• Esteban Smith also won an International Scholar Laureate Fellow to China which he participated in during the Summer of 2011.
• Our Chapter also is proud to see the very first student located outside of the United States and Canada elected as an International Vice President for 2011/12 – Esteban Smith.
In accordance with the organization’s hallmark of service the Beta Omicron Sigma Chapter created the first Junior Leadership Academy. The academy that was offered in November of 2011 was a unique exercise in peer mentorship. The BOS students (Esteban Smith, Michael Boyd, Chrysanta Creque-Connors) mentored high school students and presented leadership strategies to their peers. This according to the students, this Academy was their crown jewel of community service which included tutorials and a plagiarism seminar. In the words of the Florida Region’s past president “The Phi Theta Kappa students of the BVI remind all of us what it is to be committed to the four hallmarks of Phi Theta Kappa” Scholarship, Leadership, Fellowship and Service.”
