H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, having recently embarked on the development of a Strategic Plan, will hold talks with alumni on Thursday 2 February at 5:30 p.m. at the Paraquita Bay Campus, as part of the process to meet with various stakeholders of the institution.
The meeting will be held in the Video Conference Room and all graduates of HLSCC are invited to attend and participate in the discussions. As part of the consultations, the alumni will examine the College’s Vision Statement, Mission Statement, and the environment in which the institution operates from a local, regional and international perspective.
Since embarking on the process to develop the Plan, the College has been meeting with various stakeholders, internal and external, to review specific areas of the institution and prospects for the future. The Plan will be used as a foundation to guide the institution in the coming years.
President Dr. Karl Dawson said the College is at a crucial stage of its development, and there is need to reaffirm or modify the institution’s mission, determine its purpose, agree on a vision, and establish measurable improvements through planning.
“It is within this context that the College would like to meet with its graduates, as much of the planning and decision-making of the institution requires the input of those most impacted and best positioned to advise,” said President Dawson.
The meetings are being facilitated by Dr. Roosevelt Williams, the consultant who has been appointed to facilitate the process.
Dr. Williams has had a long and outstanding career in academia, encompassing roles as lecturer, manager for academic departments and organisations, and author and consultant to educational institutions in Africa, North America and the Caribbean.
