Rainer Ziesmer and his wife  Hildegard  made their 40th visit to the British Virgin Islands on Saturday, July 23.

When asked what keeps them coming back Ziesmer said: “It’s Nature’s Little Secret, we love the people, the beaches and the weather.”

The couple hails from Germany and has been coming to the BVI for 15 years. “It’s our get away from it all, we enjoy tranquillity and relaxation when we come here,” said Rainer.

The couple expressed their appreciation for the lack of tall buildings and big hotels that are found in big cities, saying that the country’s lack of development is its greatest asset.

The couple added that they have been to many places in the world but they consider the BVI their second home. “We love the BVI, we never feel like tourists here, when we come here, we feel like we’re amongst family,” he explained.

Recommended by the German Tourist Board the couple’s first visit to the BVI was in 1996.

The couple received the VIP greeting upon arrival at the airport last Saturday and was pleasantly surprised to receive this special treatment.

They were presented with a plaque locally made by Shay Bamboushay/VI Arts on behalf of the BVI Tourist Board, marking their 40th visit to the BVI.

When asked where in the BVI they like visiting the most, they said: “We especially love spending time at White Bay on Jost Van Dyke, but really we enjoy an elite experience everywhere in the BVI. We intended to keep coming back to this beautiful country as long as our health allows us.”

The Tourist Board is elated that Mr and Mrs Ziesmer have found the BVI so compelling that they have kept coming back for 15 years.

“It is gratifying to know that our islands offer such exclusivity, that once experienced, it keeps our visitors coming back time after time,” stated Hadassah Ward, Director of Tourism.
