At least four international music label representatives are expected to be at the 5th annual ZRod top 7@7 Awards Show.

Follow the Movement President Craig Lake told media representatives at a press conference on February 8 that the presence of industry players such as Devyne Stephens, Kevin Hall, Aaron Bay Schuck and Shawn Holiday provides a great opportunity for artistes performing on that night to become international artistes.

Much emphasis was placed on the fact that following the 2011 show, Travis Walters, one of the performers, was chosen by RAYDAR to be part of the their talent development program and will now be returning as an headline act of the show under his new name Travie Rozae.

Lake disclosed that Rock City, who headlined last year, will also be back to wow the crowd as well as international artiste Verse Simmonds. Additionally, local favourites Monea, Rikkiya, K’are, Showtime Band, Country Boyz and Aaron da Jedi are expected to contribute to the show’s excitement.

The event, which is scheduled to take place on March 3 at the Multi Purpose Sports Complex, will once again begin with a red carpet affair.

The FTM President said it is imperative that the performers live up to expectations of the label representatives who will be observing the show. Lake also spoke about plans to expand the realms of the show in the future to include other genres of local music and videos and to generate more exposure for local artistes specifically as it relates to various festivals.

Minister for Education and Culture Myron Walwyn said he is pleased to be associated with the show and mentioned that he was part of the event from its inception.

The minister affirmed government’s support of the event and by extension the performing arts industry and highlighted persons such as Iyaz, Kamau Georges and Alton Bertie who has shone the light on Virgin Islands talent.
