NEW YORK, N.Y. – Senior sprinter Karene King wrapped up competition for the Vikings at the New Balance Collegiate Invitational at The Armory in New York, N.Y. Saturday morning.
King ran a time of 24.28 in the women’s 200-meter dash championship division preliminaries to finish second in her heat. Her time placed her 19th overall for the event that featured some of the top sprinters in the country.
King’s time is shy of her season best of 24.08 set at the Cherry & Silver Invitational earlier this season in Albuquerque, N.M. King will look to improve on that time as she, and the rest of the Portland State track team heads back to Albuquerque for the Don Kirby Elite Invitational next Friday, Feb. 10.
In the 60m, King ran a season-best time of 7.58 seconds.
The Vikings only have two remaining meets before the Feb. 24-25 Big Sky Indoor Championship in Flagstaff, Ariz. The Vikings will be at the Don Kirby next weekend and then in Seattle, Wash. for the final time this season at the Husky Classic on Feb. 11.
