Levons-Clarke appointed National AIDS Coordinator

Noelene Levons-Clarke
Governor Boyd McCleary, acting on the advice of the Public Service Commission, has confirmed the appointment of Noelene Levons-Clarke to the post of National AIDS Coordinator, Ministry of Health and Social Development.
Levons-Clarke whose appointment is effective March 1 holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, a Post-Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, USA and an Executive Diploma in Business Management from the Chartered Management Institute from H. Lavity Stoutt Community College.
Levons-Clarke joined the public service as a nursing assistant, Health Department (now BVI Health Services Authority) in 1989 and was promoted to the post of registered nurse in 1993. She was granted leave of absence from the BVI Health Services Authority in 2006 and worked as a senior product development officer with the BVI Tourist Board until 2009.
Levons-Clarke returned to the public service on December 1, 2009 and was appointed as assistant coordinator, National AIDS Programme, Ministry of Health and Social Development. She has acted as National AIDS Programme Coordinator from September, 2010 until February 28, 2011 when she was promoted to the post.
As National AIDS Coordinator, Mrs. Levons-Clarke is responsible for providing policy advice to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Social Development, functioning as HIV/AIDS focal point and liaison for regional and international donor agencies, developing multi-sector partnerships to plan, develop and implement HIV/AIDS programmes and services for an expanded national response, developing and maintaining national statistics on HIV/AIDS and analysing the broad scope of HIV/AIDS problem and its impact on social development.
