Road Town, Tortola – July 16, 2012 – LIME has congratulated the BVI Tourist Board for hosting the 2012, Junior Minister of Tourism Debate. The company, which has been recognized with a Tourism Ambassador Award by the organization, has pledged its continued support for this initiative.
When LIME’s General Manager received the invitation to attend the Junior Minister of Tourism debate from the BVI Tourist Board, there was no indication of the impact it would have had on all present. The quality of performance by each student showcased a level of preparation and aptitude that impressed all who were present. LIME representatives, the only corporate sponsors present, were prepared to award the winning student with its contribution of Samsung Galaxy Tab, but made an announcement that surprised everyone.
“We didn’t know what to expect when we came tonight, but I am so pleased that we are here. When people talk about making a change and impacting the youth; this is it, this is where it starts” said Sean Auguste, LIME General Manager. He further announced, “All the students have done so well this evening and we know it wasn’t easy, because of this, we believe that they should all be recognized for their efforts. We have decided to award all of the five participants with a 4G mobile handset this evening.”
Not only were the students pleasantly and visibly surprised, but so were the audience members, all standing in recognition of the gesture. Winner and Best Speaker, Shea Alexander of the Bregado Flax Educational Center, was elated with his new Samsung Galaxy Tablet, remarking that while his sister had one, he now had his own.
Earlier in the evening, LIME was presented with a Tourism Ambassador Award – For outstanding contribution to the BVI cultural preservation and continued dedication to the growth of the Tourism Sector. “We must recognize members of the corporate sector, who make it their duty to support nonprofit activities such as this. While the gains may not be monetary, the impact on the lives on the participants and in turn, BVI, is priceless,” said BVI Tourist Board representative Faye Smith-Penn.
LIME wishes Shea Alexander, BVI’s 2012 Junior Minister, all the best as he prepares to represent the territory at the Regional Tourism Youth Congress in St. Kitts.
