Rosewood Little Dix Bay in Virgin Gorda said none of its roughly 300 employees will be laid off as the property prepares to close for renovations after several years of non-stop operation.

The closure is to take place from August 27 to October 13.

Employees have been given two options; to either stay on for available jobs or take their usual vacation.

Most of the hotel’s 300 employees usually opt for vacation at this time of the year when bookings are generally down throughout the territory, according to Little Dix Bay.

“About 60% of the staff normally takes vacation during this particular time period, but we have opened up the doors that anyone who would like to work. The hotel does have more than enough work for them.”

The resort further said: “The main departments such as housekeeping, grounds, engineering – there is a lot of things that they intend to do.

“There will be no lay-offs and nobody should feel a pinch from the property being closed.”

Little Dix Bay said guests have been informed about the impending closure of the property, which will be significantly improved in time for its 50th anniversary.

“Little Dix Bay is approaching the 50th anniversary January and so the product could do some updating and modification. So throughout the next few months and years it will be doing a little tweak here and there.”
