Seven Swimmers from the Makos Swim Club took part in the St.Thomas Stingrays invitational on Sunday June 3rd.

The club represented the territory in the meet which saw swimmers competing from the Bluefins of Georgia, Stingrays of St. Thomas and the Makos of Tortola.

Three swimmers achieved personal best times Miguel Nibbs, Deanna Leslie and Giselle Archibald-Bowers with Giselle and Elinah Phillip dominating their age groups. Gisselle won all her events in national record times.

Participating swimmers were Miguel Nibbs, Amarah Phillip, Elinah Phillip, Brionka Halbert, Mollee Donovan, Deanna Leslie and Giselle Archibald-Bowers.

12 MEDALS FOR MAKOS AT ST. CROIX INVITATIONAL


Three swimmers from the Makos swim club who are on their way to represent the BVI in the Caribbean island swimming championships next week in Aruba saw warm up action at the St Croix dolphins invitational June 8-10.

Amarah Phillip, Elinah Phillip and Brionka Halbert pushed their limits as they tackled longer events in preparation for the 6 day event in Aruba.

4 teams contested the event 1 from the USA and three from the Caribbean. Team BVI placed 4th with an impressive medal haul of 12, Amarah Phillip was the second place overall high point winner in her age group.

    WHERE IS THE GOVERNMENT SUPPORT FOR THIS SWIM PROGRAMME? WHY CAN’T THE GOVERNMENT ADDRESS THE POOL SITUATION A PROSPECT REEF SO THESE KIDS CAN TRAIN. THIS GOVERNMENT CAMPAIGNED PROMISING YOUTH DEVELOPMENT, WHERE IS THE SUPPORT.

    now head for CISC in Aruba next week and we’ll do what we do best, “act like sharks”
