Monday, September 27 -The Ministry of Communications and Works updates the public on the status of portable water at the Elmore Stoutt High School and the Peebles Hospital.
The Ministry has confirmed that the water supply in Road Town including the Elmore Stoutt High School as of September 20, 2010 has been continuous. Water and Sewerage officials reported that there has been a constant water supply to the school during the daylight hours between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m.
In reference to the quality of water being received at the Peebles Hospital, the Water and Sewerage Department has also confirmed that the supply of water to the hospital over the last eight weeks is provided directly from the Sea Cow’s Bay Plant, Hannah Hill Reservoir which continues to function normally.
Over the past few months the production level from the desalination plants on Tortola has fallen below the production requirements as a result of deterioration of the Baugher’s Bay Plant which is being addressed. The public is therefore encouraged to practice conservation techniques and to store water when the supply is on.
The Ministry of Communications and Works through the Water and Sewerage Department seeks to ensure the provision of a continuous supply of safe potable water to all residents of the British Virgin Islands efficiently and at affordable rates.
