Powerful and energetic performances from local and international gospel artistes brought the curtains down on the 5th annual Hope Festival, which was held at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall on Friday evening.
‘Joy Praise’ – the Cane Garden Bay Baptist church choir, Dominion, Levor Lettsome and Donna Cline-Thomas mesmerized the estimated crowd of 250, with popular and original songs.
Lettsome especially had members of the audience on their feet as he belted out some of his catchy songs. In between songs the singer/songwriter told the crowd his inspiration came from the trials and tribulations he experienced in life.
Bahamian Reggae superstar, Monty G, spoke to the youths in the crowd advising them never to stray from their vision. He showed off his versatility by infusing a little bit of soca, reggae and rap into his performance. Ruben Heights also shared the spotlight with Monty G and did an interesting rendition of ‘God Loves You’ using the Gyptian’s ‘Hold Yuh’ rhythm.
The crowd loved it! The duo even put on a little choreographed dance to one of the songs.
Bringing the curtains down was international and Stellar Award winning, James Fortune & FIYA, who sang one of his popular hits ‘I Trust You’.
Host of TEMPO’s Rise and Shine, Jaime Thomas returned as Master of Ceremonies.
This year’s festival was held under the theme, “LOVE: The Real Thing.”
A previous press release stated that Hope Festival is designed to inspire, ignite and emancipate, especially, the youth and young adults of our territory through the realization of their gifts and eschatological hope given in the personhood and ministry of Jesus Christ. Love, encapsulates the greatest command that’s given by God; to love your neighbor as yourself. It has been the theme of every popular song from Bob Marley’s “One Love” to Kirk Franklin song titled simply “Love”.
“We have done some crazy things in the name of love. Many of us have been hurt by ‘love.’ Some of us swear by love, while others say it doesn’t exist. Some of us are searching for love, while others have simply given up on love. This year’s Hope Festival, “Love: The Real Thing” offers you real love, from the best lover and friend you will ever know. For God so Loved the World (The Good, Bad, Struggling, Poor, Rich, Sinner and Saint) that God sent His Son for you. This is the Love that we are offering, a Love that will accept you in spite of your faults, failures and shortcomings,” the release added.
The festival was organized by the Cane Garden Bay Baptist Church.

I totally agree with what My View said this place is full of churches not Christians, I am a born again child of God and sometimes when I see the way some of us carry ourselves in the way we dress, behave and the places we go in the name of friendship. If your friend cannot come to church with you, why do you go anywhere with them. CHRISTIANS YOU NEED TO STAND UP AND TAKE YOUR PLACE IN THIS TIME. STOP GIVING THE HOLY SPIRIT A BAD NAME.
Y dnt u become one! & show us how its done!
This island is full of churches not Christians!!!!!!!
