A Ferry from Scrub Island carrying workers and guests ended up on the rocks this morning as it was transporting them to Treillis Bay.

Managing Director of the company – Martin Smith said, “At 6.40am, Scrub Island  Ferry 1 was driving guests to Treillis airport and when getting close to Mariner’s Cay where we make a right turn, the captain turned the steering wheel and it was locked and then the boat ran up on the rocks.”

Smith said two passengers received minor injuries, “the captain received bruises on his knees and his hip and one of the staff members on the boat received bruises on her shoulder.”

There were 5 passengers on the boat along with the captain and mate.

Smith said the boat received damage to its hull and plans are in the making to remove it from the rocks.

He was unable to say how long the boat will take to be repaired and be back in operation.

Smith said with the damage caused to this boat,  Scrub Island has two other boats that do the regular run. He however said the ferry that is damaged has a covered area to protect passengers from the weather.
