Miss BVI World chooses Autism Centre for charity efforts supported by LIME

LIME (press release) - Thursday, July 25th, 2013 at 8:10 AM

PRESS RELEASE: LIME British Virgin Islands was a part of the historic occasion as the first Miss World British Virgin Islands in 12 years, Kassandra Malone, was crowned in the flagship store on Tortola on Wednesday.

Some 100 persons were greeted in the store by Managing Director Mr. Sean Auguste who created a gracious atmosphere with wine, food and music.

The Managing Director in his remarks underscored the importance of supporting dreams like the one encouraged by the Miss World B.V.I. committee.

“Too often we see positive young people in the community fade because they are not supported well, because their dreams have to be challenged before they get off the ground. LIME has always been in the business of supporting good dreams, that the BVI would be represented well, for the first time in 12 years at the Miss World Pageant, is a dream that should come true.”

LIME also chose to partner with the organisation because of its “Beauty with a Purpose” programme which encourages each contestant to select and support a charity during her reign.

Ms. Malone chose the BVI Autism Centre and thus the partnership will allow LIME to reach autistic persons with much-needed financial assistance and resources.

Representative for the BVI Autism Centre, Ms. Lorna Dawson highlighted how poignant it was that the leading telecommunications company in the B.V.I. would take the lead in supporting the Centre as she said, “communication is one of the most challenging things for persons living with Autism.”

In addition to the crown, sash and flowers Ms. Malone received, she also selected an iPhone 5 from the store and received one year of free service from LIME which will aid her well as she prepares to go to Indonesia to represent the B.V.I. later this year.
