Teacher Thompson wins BVITU Pageant

Kimberly Thompson, a teacher of the Willard Wheatley Primary School, emerged the winner of the first ever Miss BVI Teachers Union (BVITU) pageant held at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall on Saturday, February 4.
Thompson also won the Miss Determined to Succeed, best futuristic wear and best evening wear categories.
Celine Thomas, the first runner-up, won Miss Photogenic, Miss Congeniality, best introduction and best business wear, while Indira Hayde won best talent and Isis Daniel won Miss Popularity.
The show was part of the BVITU’s fundraising efforts for the upcoming Caribbean Union of Teachers Games 2012.

Why no question and answer segment? This speaks volumes about our education system! Is it that our “TEACHERS” are afraid to be put on the spotlight!

I find it ironic that this pagent is not going to have a question and answer segment. Goes to show that not even the “teachers” in this territory have the guts to answer a question in a pagent (can our students be any better???)
Does the teachers have the say over the segments in the show?
So tell me something only pageant shows ayo know bout? All these blinking pageant shows and still nobody from the BVI can’t even win or even get placed in miss world or even miss universe.
Unless you can bring home a miss universe or miss world or both home, you guys really need to find a different way to raise funds, cuz the pageant show thingy is played out!!! Real talk and i am a bvislander.
Come up with something new, something original, miss dis and mr dat it is sickening now man. Gosh!!!!

Since you are being so negative come up with a solution. Empty vessels make the most noise. So so busy bashing with no solution until u have a solution i suggest u be quiet and in the future don’t bash without a solution.
Places like here are not in the runnings in those huge shows. We are neither financially equipped nor do we have the facilities to hold such pageantry. Those places that tend to get winners are places that have a lot to offer…beauty pageants are just a pretty way to make business deals and liaisons and right now our littly country just doesn’t qualify…so please don’t blame the girls that we send out there…they are just small fish in a huge pond… Haven’t you ever wondered why only financially bigger places like Trinidad and puerto Rico in the Caribbean have had winners…come on …. The winning country usually hosts the pageant (or has that changed) do we really have the facilities to host it or even the space to house all the people that follow these shows ESP the tv and entertainment personnel can we offer the caliber of show and hospitality on that grand scale… Come let’s not be ignorant… This thing is bigger than we can even comprehend
