Nagico Insurance employee Arianna McQuilkin wins Miss Easter Festival crown

Fittingly using Virgin Gorda’s culture as her platform, 18-year-old accounts receivable clerk at Nagico Insurance, Arianna McQuilkin, captured the Miss Easter Festival 2010 title and four other awards Saturday night at the Catholic Community Centre.
The theme for the pageant was Caribbean Mardi Gras in Spanish Town.
McQuilkin, using culture as the basis of her performances, won Best Platform, Best Swimwear, Miss Intellect and Miss Poise.
Contestant #4 Jovan Wilson won the first runner-up title as well as Best Introduction, Best Talent and Best Evening Wear.
Contestant #2 Lauralee J. Laurent won second runner-up, Best Business Wear, Miss Photogenic and Miss Popularity.
Contestant #5 Kenadia Marquis won Miss Congeniality. Contestant #3 Shaila Stevens was the other contestant.

The Prince and Princess Show on Sunday, March 28 is the next event on the Easter Festival calendar.

@truth teller, u aint right, she did not get it due to favouritism and the fact that her mom from her don’t make a difference. if you were at the show you would have known that laura was the crowd’s favorite but she just was not that good. arianna deserved it 100%

Congratulations Ari. You deserved the crown. You had all the ingredients necessary, talent, poise, beauty and intelligence – in short, the whole package. now hold your head high, smile and move forward. do not stress with the haters (haterz), walk like you have oilwells in your livingroom. Obstacles will be in your way, but rise above them. People may hate you just because, but smile and move on. Always look to God and He will bring you through. Again, congratulations.

This show will be great, but I have to back Contestant #1 all the way. She is rare combination of beauty and brains, something that has been sadly lacking in shows over the years. I know that she will “bring it” so fasten your seatbelts.

the BVI is one BACKWARDS place, this show could have been last night instead of going up against Ms.Caribbean World… them always holding everything ON THE SAME NIGHT, THEN THE REST OF THE WEEKEND DONT HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO.

Man — Let us support VG Easter Festival!!!!!!!! I have never seen such a buzz and talked about show as this one. Reminds me of those days when the shows were so tight that everyone was sitting on pins and needles waiting to see what will happen.
I know folks who plan to be at this show from 5pm.

Why would this show be on the same day as Ms. Caribbean? makes no sense to me.
Why would Ms. Caribbean be on the same date as Ms. Easter Festival? Everyone knows that this is VG festival weekend and show dates were announced way in advance. Based on the street – ticket sales are close to sold out so this show for sho will be full. I hope Ms. Caribbean does well too… life goes on.
