National Jr. Championships/Carifta Games Trials set for Saturday

MARCH 7—Final spots for the April 6-9 Carifta Games in Bermuda, will be sealed on Saturday, during the BVI Athletics Association Carifta Games Trials which also serves as the National Jr. Championships.

The competition which begins at 9:30 a.m. with prelims and finals set for 4 p.m., targets U15, U17 & U20 Division athletes.

All participants for Saturday’s competition must be registered by 5 p.m. Wednesday. There will be no registration on the day of competition and no additions to events will be allowed on competition day either.

There is a $5.00 registration fee for all U17 & U20 athletes and a $1.00 registration fee for U15 athletes. The registration fee is to be paid by 9:00 a.m. on the day of the meet.

The competition will begin at 9:30 a.m. with field events. Competitors for all track (running) events must be declared as competing by 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. for the afternoon session respectively. All registered persons not competing are to be scratched by 9:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.

The payment of fees, the declarations of athletes and/or scratches can be made by the athlete or a designated person representing the athlete such as Club Manager or Coach.

The day’s program is as follows:

All events are for females and males in divisions U15 to U20 ONLY unless otherwise indicated.

AM Session
1. 9:30 — JAVELIN (U17 & U20 only)
2. 10:00— 800m
3. 10:30— High Jump
4. 11:00 —- 100m
5. 11:05 —- Shot put
6. 11:30 —- 300mh (U17 females only)
PM Session
7. 4:00 —- 400m
8. 4:15 —– Long Jump
9. 4:30 —– Discus (U17 & U20 only)
10. 5:30 —- 400m
