JUNE 29, 2012- The New Life Baptist Church is inviting members of the public to join with them in bringing new opportunities to the children of Nairobi, Kenya, East Africa.
The goal is to build a new high school in the village that would enable Nairobi’s children to obtain an education which is so vital to their development.
Currently, close to 200 children are housed at the Tortola Child Rescue and Educational Center, formerly the Tortola Gracious Academy, an extension to sub-standard conditions that existed prior to NLBC’s first visit to Africa in 2001. After that initial visit, Bishop John Ivan Cline and his team decided that a one-time donation of food, clothes and other items was not the best approach for Nairobi. It was then that the church took on the responsibility of sponsoring children annually, a move that they extended to the BVI public and that many committed themselves to. For as little as $150.00 a year, a child receives the books, food and education they so desperately need and deserve.
Once again, the New Life Baptist Church will be traveling to Nairobi, this time with the aim of building a new high school for the children there, one that can facilitate more students and teachers in what is known as the slum of Ngomongo, Nairobi.
All businesses and residents who feel called to give to this cause can contact NLBC at 494-4104 to find out how to sponsor a child, or how to donate toward the purchase of material for the school.
Contributions will go directly toward a child, or to secure the much needed material to make this high school a reality in Nairobi, Africa.
