Today, June 25, a nine-member jury returned a not guilty verdict in the case against Rodney Simmonds Jr. and Mikhael Howe who were charged in relation to the January 21, 2011 Money Gram armed robbery.
The two men were among five charged with possession of firearm with intent to endanger a life and wounding with intent.
Justice Albert Redhead informed Howe that he was acquitted, while Simmonds Jr. remains on remand in relation to a pending case.
The other defendants were Leonard Sprauve, Jason Stevens and Michael Stevens. Jason Stevens and Leonard Sprauve pleaded guilty to the charges and as a result the Crown offered no evidence on the charge of wounding with intent. They will be sentenced on July 20.
Later in the case the charges against Michael Stevens were dropped following an application by his lawyer.
The matter was prosecuted by Valston Graham and Leslie Ann Faulkner; the defendant Simmonds Jr. was represented by Corrine George and Howe by Yohhahnseh Cave.

dis is nonesense when it comes to serious illegal things they doing stupid but when it comes to pitty things dem charging people and pleading guilty dis BVI needs serious help
WOW!! As I was not in court and did not have the facts of the case presented to me I cannot know why the jury found these boys not guilty but it does sound like their was sufficient evidence to prove they were guilty. Since a judge does not have the power to overrule a non-guilty verdict of a jury then maybe the ethics of the jury need to be reviewed. It seems unfair that when the preponderance of evidence suggests guilty that this could happen and the jury not be held accountable for their verdict. If any one of them was paid off or did so to protect a friend or a relative then they should be tried and given a harsh sentence themselves for obstructing the process of justice.
what else is new….. u need to learn to read and understand what is really going on….. because if u could, u would have understand that only one of the two is boys are involved with that murder case…..Reading and understanding is the KEY…….
thank you for showing me the errors of my ways.
The judge should put the jurors in jail. This will send a message to future jurors, that when evidence is presented which points to guilty plain as day, don’t be bias because of who the defendants are. They should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe they are going to get some of the money.hhhhhmmmm

So you think the “Not guilty verdict” was the right one? Maybe you are a criminal yourself. The queen needs to step in and scrap the jury system in this place. Everybody know everybody, and they give unfair and bias verdicts. Why some people condone wrong doings is beyond me. One will think that being a member of a small community, that every one will want a virtually crime free environment to live in, where they can enjoy peace and tranquility. We used to be a Christian community, now greed and selfishness have taken over.
