The driver of the pick-up pictured to the left today committed one of the most unconscionable acts against pedestrians in Road Town, Tortola.
The vehicle was left for several hours blocking the pedestrian crossing directly in front of Tropic Aisle.
BVI News first stumbled upon the pick-up about 2pm. At that time, a group of students struggled to get around it as another reckless driver rushed them off the very pedestrian crossing that is being blocked.
Up to minutes before 6pm, the vehicle was still parked in the said spot.
The crossing shown in the photographs is blocked by parked vehicles virtually on a daily basis. At times, even police officers pass by without doing anything.
UPDATE: Moments after BVI News posted this story, the pick-up was removed from the pedestrian crossing and parked in the general area.

This had to be an island-man because if he was a native….boy i tell yo
Y would it come down to us versus them
Only a BVISlander would dare do something like this.
Bvislanders dont drive those types of pickups…only islandmen drive those
wow and only a BV Islander would post such a stupid comment! This also shows how much the police doing their jobS!
bvilanders dont drive those pick ups only island man? DA MAKE ANY SENSE?! *facepalm!*
Friday is like them ticket krazy as soon week end it them seem to be less vigilant best of em that guy a fool!
Really bad park. Deserve a night at balo
If you really wanted to call this driver out and put him/her on blast, you would have captured the licence plate and turn it in to the authorities for them to handle the rest of the job, but that’s not the case is it. Stop adding to the confusion if you are not going to help solve the problem.
The mere fact that the license plate isn’t published, doesn’t really mean the site doesn’t have it. The questions are: Does the site have it? Are the police going to ask for it if it is available? Whichever way, I guess it was good putting this out, even as caution motorists to be careful as the media are watching them. It would be good for all the media to do the same.
@Sylvia. You just sound like a damn nosey woman who just want to know who the vehicle belongs to. What are you doing to make things better. I bet NOTHING. Sound like u r sumone who just criticize everything. I BET you would have passed the vehicle there and don’t even see the fault in the parking. BECAUSE most of you who criticize are only for yourselves. WE ALL SEE BREACHES ON THE ROAD EVERYDAY AND DO NO DAMN THING. After all, we say it is a police matter. I support the call that it is the police who should not be proactive, get up off their LAZY ass and try get media across the board and other efforts. ALL they do is NOTHING. IT’S THEIR JOB. Be grateful for the little that civil society see fit to do
who piss on you buddy?
Illegally parked vehicles should be towed and impounded. If this was a law and it was enforced violators will think twice before they park the way that idiot parked his truck. Some drivers are also inconsiderate when they block in another person’s vehicle, and you have to wait for hours until the violator comes back. In this case the police should issue the offender a ticket. There are no effective traffic laws to protect the public. I am sure that the police also witness how trucks transport building supplies and other merchandise in a very unsafe manner and they don’t cite the driver for unsafe transport of supplies. BVI is a lawless society because we have laws, but they are not enforced.
That is Tortola for you. All people complain, but no one does anyhow, especially not police.
please learn to read over what you type
Good looking out reporter but why did u omit the most important from the photo, the license plate?
I am sure many would like to have the oppportunity to roll their eyes and schupps at the offending vehicle in the future. Also the so called traffic enforcement arm of the BVI law would have little choice but to take action against the owner.
Lets all forget the police. They are useless when it comes to traffic enforcement, parking enforcement and other infractions. When some high ranking official is hurt (or his her family) then something may happen. This is why BVIslander is not top cop. The only way to make things happen will be to make all cops unrelated to locals
Total ignorance of the rules of the road. He should be fined and his licence suspended.
Police say they are cracking down but on what and where? At 5.30pm they were quite near there ticketing somebody, and I was almost run down by a speeding jeep with the driver talking on the phone, swerving to avoid me and going through the red light!!!
Perhaps the jeep stalled and isn’t working!
only the media can press this and other issues..show us license plates and accept pictures from readers and post..together we can change the selfish climate that has been able to persist in this territory.
wow.. and police ain’t ticket he or nothing and they mostly pass that area??
So no cops were on foot patrol in this area for almost 4 hours?
Not making any excuses for them to NOT do their jobs but when they DO take action, the public is up in arms bit*hing about it and asking if there isn’t more serious crimes for them to go after.
They can’t win for losing SMDH!
People only seem to want action when an offence is being committed against them or is affecting them personally!
what happen to the cell phone law every body doing it; including driving around without seatbelt and having their children standing in their car looking our the back window sometimes, i hope bvinews take pictures of these to, and before i forget try going by first carribbean and first bank and see the willfull parking and lawlessness, the pickup is just one
show us his plate leh we ticket him
LOL
