St. Croix’s Slevin eked out a six-length victory over Tortola’s East End Tap to win the first leg of the Virgin Islands Triple Crown Challenge which was held on Sunday, Jan. 15 at the Ellis Thomas Downs in Sea cow’s Bay, Tortola.
Slevin, under jockey Emanuel Cosne, clocked 1:45 3/5. Political Reporter placed third, Good Prospecting finished fourth and Diablo’s Fire finished fifth.
