Police have cleared a 13 year-old male student who was suspected to have sexually assaulted a five year-old schoolmate here in the BVI.
When the assault was suspected, officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force were summoned to the school which is not being named in an effort to protect the identity of the students.
“No assault took place; there was no contact at all,” Police Information Officer Diane Drayton yesterday told BVI News following a probe into the matter.
“Since no assault took place, matters of discipline were dealt with by the school,” she said.
Drayton further stated that the Social Development Department and other necessary state agencies were called in to render assistance at the educational institution in question.
The same issue of suspected sexual assault at the school was on the weekend raised in the broadcast media by ‘Speak Your Mind’ co-host Julio ‘Sam’ Henry.
According to him, some parents reported being fearful that the male student was probably performing sexual acts on younger students at the school.
“We got a 14 year-old kid behaving like a 21 year-old kid, sexually assaulting a five year-old. If these things are really happening, the government needs to take a stand and jump on this. That young person shouldn’t be in school if that’s the case,” Henry told his viewers.
According to the police, the male student in question is 13 years old, not 14.

Why are 13yrs old boy is still at class 4 in the primary school. He need to be put in the baugher’s bay school. And that not the first time he did that.
At the Carrot Bay meeting a teacher complained about the fact that they have sexually active older, underperforming, students in the primary school with much younger children. Even if this alleged or suspected event did not take place, others may have done or are likely to happen in future.
Writing on the wall????
TF?
You all adopting that silly word “Kid” I just hate that word! Even so how can a 21 year old be a kid! That irks me!!
You all come and meet us speaking the way we do, and that is a problem for allyo?
So,we must say, Bee-Yea-Bee, or yout, chirrun,
lads and lassies?
We say what the hell we want. We are an amalgam of Caribbean, English, American and
African, along a continuum and make no
apologies to anyone for our choice of words.
Yea, that’s why we are different!! Like it
or Lump it. That’s why we use words like, Melee, Mettay, Mayson, Buddy, Kids and whatever else we chose.
It is the public’s right to know! How do you protect your child if you do not know where are the monsters?!
Further, this highlights the fact that much older students should not be allowed to be on the same school ground or campuses because they are apt to prey on the much younger students sexaully and otherwise. In previous years in high school you had eighteen year olds dating and engaging in sexual intercourse with twelve and thirteen year olds because they were being schooled on the same compound. This consitutes rape because a twelve or thirteen year old is not able to consent to sexual relations.
I can’t understand what a 5 year old and a 13 year old doing in the same school. Happy nothing messy went on though
Although you say it is the public’s right to know the results of the investigations states that there was no sexual contact at all betwen the students. That simply means nothing happen and that the 5 year old student was not assaulted as suspected. It is not right for the public to know that name of the school when in fact the allegations proved to be false. Don’t tarnish a school or student’s name because of allegations that proved to be inconclusive and false. And no I don’t know any of these students or the situation
what is a 14 yr old doing in primary school
Why the school name cant be disclosed?? Thats why witnesses dont come forward here in the bvi because of the amount of secrecy that goes on in this place
You to damn mayte’!!! Thats y.. Stop hanging out ppl dirty laundry & go mind your own!
Why do you need to know? You like to much melee!
Would you be willing to consider that disclosing certain information, even if it seems commonplace, could have a scarring effect on the victim? There are compelling reasons for treating these incidents with much sensitivity.
