Government seems not to have an answer as to when the people of Carrot Bay will have their own Post Office.

This question was put to the Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. Orlando Smith at the first ‘Government on the Road’ meeting recently held in Carrot Bay and he was unable to give a direct and clear response.

“I am afraid, I can’t give any exact answer to that but if you call by Office tomorrow morning, I will be able to tell you,” he said.

The Carrot Bay Post Office is one of those projects in the First District which the representative Andrew Fahie said has not been given any attention by the current administration since it came to office more than a year ago.

Giving his annual report to the residents of the First District in January, Fahie said, “I continue to respectfully ask the current administration to please inform me so that I can inform my people of the progress on these matters.”

“The Post Office building, that was the idea of you my people but it has seen no progress thus far. It was always your desire that we can use that building for a multiplicity of government and other essential services to be housed in the First District. A place where we can go to pay our different utility bills, among other things, rather than having us, especially our seniors, pay someone to take us to RoadTown to do our business,” he said.

Fahie told the meeting in January that when he asked the question about the Post Office at a recent sitting of the House of Assembly, he was informed by the current administration that in 6 months time they will review the matter.

He committed to pursuing the matter in 2013 on behalf of the people in the First District.

Hot debate. What do you think? Thumb up 5 Thumb down 6

why does carrotbay need a post office? they just need one of the businesses down there to act as a drop off point where people in teh vilage can get their mail. they can use either big bens or a place directly located in carrot bay to provide this service. they dont need a full service post office. just mail boxes and a depot where they can collect stuff and do business.
