ROMPS and BFEC visit Rosewood Little Dix Bay

For the tenth consecutive year, Rosewood Little Dix Bay haswelcomed sixteen students from the Robinson O’Neal Memorial Primary School (ROMPS)and the Bregado Flax Educational Centre (BFEC) to the resort.

This afforded  the students the opportunity to become familiar with the tourism and hospitality industry and the wide arrayof skills and services it requires to be successful.

Sharon Flax Mars, Director of Human Resources at Rosewood Little Dix Bay explainedthat the resort has continued to host the students over the last decade in order to allow thechildren to discover the link between what they do now in school and what they can become in the future.

“They had the opportunity to witness what it takes to run a luxury resort withexceptional service and to experience first-hand the vital tasks performed each day by ourstaff members, many of whom are family members or at least related to the children insome way. We hope that this experience will inspire the children, open their eyes to newpossibilities, and encourage future careers in the hospitality industry” she said.

Nayib Clarke – BFEC – Maintenance
De-Ashi George – BFEC – Purchasing
Gezira Alexander – BFEC – Reservation/Communications
Stanley Whyte – ROMPS – Security
T’Keyah Richardson – ROMPS – Shops
J’Sally O’Neil -ROMPS – Spa

Ingrid Waters, Guidance Officer/Coordinator for both schools, thanked Rosewood LittleDix Bay for their continued support saying that the resort has always shown great communityspirit and that she has always been able to rely upon their cooperation over the last ten years.

She explained that the students had had a wonderful time and that certain individuals, likeJ’Sally O’Neil and T’Keyah Richardson were so enthusiastic that they have asked if theycould do an internship at the resort over the summer.

She continued to explain that Jahnai Caul had learned so much from the Grounds Team that he has now started his own vegetable garden at home.

    I remember doing this in primary school. I went to beef Island and greeted the guests. It was a fun experience. Glad to see that it has continued.
