We are extremley proud of you guys. These are committed hard working individuals whom are well deserving of their appointments. Now just stay focused and continue to deliver excellent work!
I trust that these two will not follow in the foot steps of the two who were appointed to the TRC. Big MAC we trust your judgement. Hope that all goes well.
Schuups! You all still harping on that TRC nonsense which was in motion since 2009 and had nothing to do with the recent appointees. Use your brains for once please? Besides, the Insurance Regulatory Dept at FSC is completely different to what TRC does.sheesh!
thats becasue those brough in are on the forfront of emerging markets and not to mention the creme de la creme is sourced as these folks tend to have alot more experience and exposure dealing with many varies senarios! However with that I am happy that 2 locals are appointed from within the FSC. It shows that Mr. Mac has the cohonos, vision and trust in his people To champion this industry and keep it within the local community which is ideally where it belongs. I might add he is an Exemplary manager and very capable chap to work with. AND NO I AM NOT AN EMPLOYEE OF THE FSC.
What give you the evidence to prove that those that are brought into the territory has more experience and exposure? Please it will be nice if research can be done, as those brought in with inflatable resume and lack of ability to do the job.
PS: I am a local with 35 years of exposure and experience on Wall Street in the Emerging Market could I apply for a Direct
position ?
U could providing you are known by the international community and your work speaks highly of u. Mr mac is such an individual. I have never heard of another. So therefore u are not an ideal candidate.
Could you please tell me why when one of our local get a position it always have to be acting and when you bring someone in from overseas they are not acting but Director .
What is wrong with you people .Please wake up here in Tortola please make those two people directors and not acting Dirctors. Management here in Tortola look out better for the people they bring into this country
and not for there own. Is the salary to big for the local ? Wake up and smell the coffee.
I agree with your post 100%, and the appointment of locals (once they are capable and qualified) is something that our government should continue to foster. However, sometimes people want to get a feel for the role before completely accepting it, and perhaps this was the agreement. Typically, there is also a grace period to see how effective and capable the person will be in the position before making it permanent. I am not too verse with the labor code at it relates to what I am about to say, but I don’t think the labor department (though they could likely favor themselves because in this case it’s the government) will allow you to file for a work permit for someone unless it’s a bona fide and permanent position, hence why they have to hire the person into the role as a permanent not “acting” role. So there are possibly a few reasons for the “acting” role. Not trying to justify, just trying to shed some light into the situation.
People who come in from oversea do not have a grace period they go right to the position, tell me am I correct??
Who is checking what they put on paper? no one and I guess that is okay.
It’s the process. I’m sure they will be confirmed but they have to prove that they’re definitely fit for the post. It’s just like having a probationary period.
