Friday, June 15 – Criminal Investigation Department still has a number of unidentified pieces of jewelry including a man’s watch which were among items that were seized last week at the T.B. Lettsome Airport and is asking persons who have had jewelry stolen to report to the Criminal Investigation Department.
Juan Pimentel-Traveras is presently on remand facing several charges of handling stolen goods each carrying a maximum sentence of ten years after being found in possession of a large quantity of stolen jewelry while trying to leave the Territory.
The jewelry was detected in Traveras’ carry-on when the luggage was scanned at the security check point. Traveras was, at the time, preparing to board a flight for the Dominican Republic.
Several pieces of the seized jewelry have already been positively identified by burglary victims over the last two months.
Police are asking persons who have had jewelry stolen whether reported or not to contact the Criminal Investigation Department at Road Town Police Station through its three-digit access number 311.
Persons must be able to positively identify these items.
