Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives on St. Thomas are investigating an Assault First Degree and Attempted Suicide that apparently resulted from a domestic dispute between a husband and wife.
Both victims are being treated for gunshot injuries at the Roy L. Schneider Regional Hospital and medical Center.
According to the preliminary report, on Thursday, May 10, at about 7:30 a.m. police were notified of a shooting victim in Tutu Valley. At the same time a private vehicle arrived at the Mariel C. Newton Command requesting an escort to the hospital for a shooting victim. In the vehicle was a female victim, who was injured by at least one gunshot to her upper body. The victim told police that her husband may have shot himself at their residence. Police escorted the victim to the hospital for treatment.
Other police traveled to the residence indicated by the female victim. Once there police observed a male victim in a bedroom, also injured by gunfire. The victim had a gun in his hand, police said.
Police confiscated the weapon and the victim was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment.
This case remains under active investigation. Anyone having any information on this shooting is asked to call detectives at 714-9834, 715-5522 or call Crime Stoppers USVI at 1-800-222-TIPS
