The matters involving Elvis Freeman Parsons, who is facing eight complaints, has been adjourned to Monday, February 27 to ascertain whether the defendant would be securing legal representation.

Parsons, 46, of Great Mountain, was arrested and charged on February 5 for the offences of unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of crack/cocaine, failure to stop at the sound of a siren, driving a without drivers’ license, driving when not covered by insurance, resisting  arrest, driving an unlicensed vehicle and escaping lawful custody.

In court on Wednesday the defendant told Magistrate Tamia Richards “I didn’t resist no arrest” when the charge was read to him.

Following the reading of the various complaints the defendant stated: “I did not resist no officer; he told me to get off the bike, I couldn’t stop, and because I didn’t stop where he wanted me to stop he say I resist arrest.”

Parsons also had an explanation for his drug-related charges: “I didn’t have none a dem things on me…  he pick that off the ground.”

Give him a break! Leave him alone!….the old familiar cries. Well, let’s put it this way. He don’t trouble anyone, but he broke the law and so far only hurt himself. It is a coincident that the cops stopped him just on the spot where someone had previously dropped some drugs right? and his bike suddenly ran out of brake as soon as he saw the cops right? Uhmm!
