Time: who has it to spare?

She was sitting there in the terminal writing a note
As she was everything but patient waiting for the boat
“Imagine I could’ve been in my bed catching up on some sleep”
Adding that her time is a lot of things but it’s not cheap
The young man next to her asked why was she complaining
Being so annoying and distracting what benefits are you gaining
The boat will be here, it’s just running late
So stop complaining because you have no other choice but to wait
She then asked why I should wait would it have waited for me
They heard that I was coming, then left when it’s me they did not see
She looked at her watch and said it’s now eight o’clock
That’s way past late it’s past seven and it’s not even at the dock
Time is not something sitting in the palm of your hands
And that’s what a lot of people don’t seem to understand
Time is something just like how it’s given it’s taken
And if you think you have a lot of it you are sadly mistaken
How much time stands between life and death
Just a second that stands between your last breath
Time is like a child that should be treated with care
Because by the time you open your eyes it’s no longer there
