The Department of Information and Public Relations and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour are inviting the public to tune in to ZBVI 780AM and CBN Channel 51 this evening at 7 o’clock for the live broadcast of the GIS Public Eye programme.

Labour Commissioner Mrs. Oleanvine Maynard will address the newly enforced Labour code along with other areas such as retirement payments, different types of work permits available, gratuity, minimum standards of employment, discipline and termination, protection against victimization, protection of children and young persons, protection of pregnant employees, preference to Virgin Islanders and Belongers for employment, no discrimination in employment, safety and health, responsibilities and powers of the Labour Department, advisory committee and penalties.

The programme, which is interactive, allows for call-ins, as well as responses through email. Interested persons can call in to the show at 468-2355, or can send their questions via email at [email protected]

GIS Public Eye is re-aired on JTV Channel 55 on Sundays at 1:30 p.m. and on CBN Channel 51 at various times.

    i am working for a company in the service industry- resort base hotel. there r 2 diffrent class of workers the whites paid monthly and the locals/blacks paid weekly. all the tips left by guest goes to the whites. 2/1/2 percent grats divided among the blacks and each whites receive 1500 dollars in grats every months what will the labour department do about this?
