Traffic Investigation Bureau Detectives on St. Croix have arrested two people in connection to the March hit and run accident that resulted in the death of a 40-year-old man.

Police arrested Gregory Marcus, 49, on December 21 and 32-year-old Jazmin Linares on December 24. Marcus and Lineras were both charged with Negligent Homicide.

On the day of the accident, witnesses told police they saw a gold or light colored vehicle heading east, hit the victim, turn around and flee in a westerly direction. The vehicle did not stop, witnesses said.

Subsequently police appealed to the public for information on this vehicle or any vehicle fitting the description that may be undergoing body work to repair front end damage.

A local body shop told police they may know about the vehicle. Police were able to recover the vehicle and conduct forensic tests which indicated that it was the vehicle that hit the pedestrian.

Bail for both suspects was set at $25,000 each. They were remanded to the custody of the Golden Grove Adults Correctional Facility pending further court action.

This is a real problem with law enforcement in the caribbean. You don’t reveal how you uptain your information that result in arrest. You only putting other people lives at risk. What you should be saying is this:”Due to information receieved,we were able to make an arrest.” When you go to court you tell the court that ” Due to information received, your investigation led you to a local body shot.” You all continue to release information that only jeopardise other lives.
